I love this album to madness... but I don't think my evaluation is distorted by what I feel, because it remains an exceptional masterpiece. "All in a Mouse's Night" doesn't seem naive to me... it's certainly not a dramatic narrative, but it's a fun fairy tale... among my favorite pieces from this splendid album. I still give you a 5, though, because I don't believe that a review's score should be lowered just because it doesn't reflect our viewpoints; the important thing is that it is well-written and appropriately illustrates the work, and here it seems to serve that purpose.

Great job, Hetzer! You perfectly described with great detail the fantastic debut of Ian Carr & Company..from your last comments I was expecting a review of Nucleus from you..well done! The album is clearly amazing, and in fact, I am now about to listen to it for the millionth time, as it never hurts.

Ah ah ah! A forum frequented by the "leftovers from Debaser"!?!? It must be quite an atmosphere...

The record in question is from 1969 (and if it had really been so, it would have been a miracle), but it was recorded in '73, when the sounds proposed were no longer so shocking and innovative. Right now, I wouldn’t even know what score to give it... I’ll think about it. The same observation I made on the Gryphon review applies here; a brief re-reading would have been just right.

It may not have the fluidity of Red Queen to Gryphon Three, but it is undoubtedly a great album. In my opinion, the shorter and more reflective tracks are also noteworthy, at times almost sweet, such as "Touch and Go," "Tea Wrecks," and the more assertive yet still melodic "The Astrologer." I agree with the rating of the album; the review is not poorly written, aside from the fact that perhaps a final look before sending it would have avoided several careless mistakes. Great choice, nonetheless!

Come on... again? Between this and Tago Mago, we’ve pretty much memorized them... :p

Yes, indeed... I gave it another listen since it came back to my mind, but I couldn't even finish it... it becomes quite frustrating after a while.

Thanks again to the commentators! Staying on the theme of Swiss prog, the only band I've heard relatively recently that hasn't been mentioned yet is Agamemnon with "Part I & II" from 1981 (or at least I seem to remember they were Swiss). Anyway, it didn't strike me as an... indispensable work, let's say.

Great comeback! Nektar touch on many different styles and this album confirms it more than ever...

Thank you all! @Jargon: I had thought about writing about the Shiver album, but since that is still a germinal work, I decided to give priority to this one. Furthermore, the cover of Walpurgis is still by Giger and was the first he created for a record. @Ole: As for the length of the writing, you are right, but I wanted to give space to this work; I took it very personally ;) Regarding the purchase, I admit that it is quite a task, and that really irritates me... Trying to search online, I didn't find much; however, if you want to listen to this album in the meantime, I saw it on the Prog not Frog blog... It seems that aside from the vampiric Japanese reissue, there’s very little out there...
