Stunning... a "colorful" listening experience, with bright and ever-changing tones, thanks to the extremely varied instrumentation, used in a very intelligent way without falling into cerebral passages that are self-serving... it’s impossible to get bored with an album like Overground Music... from which a genuine and predominant baroque taste shines through, but never cloying or ostentatious... Even in the most solemn and majestic moments (like the evocative cello fugue chased by the flute and piano in "Confess Your Beauty" or the infallible brass incursions alternating with Judit Andrejszki's delightful voice in "Shining"), the sounds always maintain a certain measure, ensuring that the composition is not weighed down by overly pompous tones... In short, an essential work for any self-respecting prog enthusiast.

I don't want to end up on the usual worn-out discussions, but in albums like this one or even those of Genesis in the '80s, something clicks that can't be measured from a purely artistic perspective or purely "musical value." Sometimes, other elements come into play, which may allow one to appreciate certain works even if they're not universally recognized as the pinnacles of their genre. In my opinion, it’s possible to evaluate it with more than two stars... As for the review, it's well written as always, but I've noticed something, tell me Doc if I'm wrong: It seems to me that you've adopted a very list-like style, with very short sentences and much less "conversational" compared to the past. With this, I don't want to critique you, eh... everyone has their own style... but yours seems quite "chameleon-like" ;)

Absolutely agree with Jargon. Slapp Happy (understood in their formation absorbed by Henry Cow) are the standard-bearers of the Rock in Opposition movement. I would reserve the definition of Art Rock for other bands. Anyway, great review, and the quote from Tilt is nice too.

5 stars??? Well... If Zucchero really said what he wrote before, he’s really starting to lose my respect as a living being, in addition to as a musician... come on...

Very late but I haven't been around these days.. Anyway, this album marks the band's downward trajectory.. but I don't feel like giving it less than a 3..

I had missed this. It seemed strange to me that there wasn't a new review of our Doc...Great choice and well written, even though it was done in a very...compact...mode.

Already said everything... Not my genre, but a pleasant listen.

No no, don't worry, mine is a perpetual mystical-existential-emotional crisis, don't mind it...

Maybe not the best, but as shooting said, "always great."
