Martin Scorsese Shutter Island

@PINKHOLLER: you invite me to the wedding to quote the great Hitchcock who managed to churn out masterpieces of suspense just by evoking the twist. Thrilling films shot with very few resources: a room, the actor, and a masterful use of the camera. An absolute champion.

Great movie, the final twist is delivered masterfully, hitting like a "straight" to the face, incredibly fast and unexpected. Excellent cinematography, setting, and performance by the actors.

Great review, I barely remember the movie, having seen it several years ago. The title has a strong '70s b-movie vibe, and I have to say it causes me annoyance and a slight sense of unease, I wonder why...

I fondly remember the scene in "For Your Eyes Only" with Carole Bouquet, of the bath in the open sea with that piece of music playing in the background, of which I neither recall the title nor the artist.

I really liked this review that overlaps with the personal. I haven't seen the film yet :-(
Well done!

@TELESPALLABOB You see, as a Roman, I’m far from happy about the "Romanization" of TV. And I’ll tell you why: television has ruined the Romanesco dialect by Italianizing it. Toscano is one thing, since it’s the dialect from which Italian DIRECTLY derives, but Roman was a whole different thing from what is now spoken. The power of pseudo-television culture, a race toward banalization and homogenization that has produced a legion of new illiterates.

Beautiful review and excellent film. A punch to the stomach.
I don’t understand these criticisms of Sordi, who achieved excellent results as a voice actor, radio show host, singer, and actor. Only as a director did he fall short.
I always find it a bit cloying and vaguely snobbish the claim to categorize culture.

I was 15 years old, and I remember those days perfectly. It was an enormous tragedy; if you could have imagined it, you couldn’t have come up with anything worse. At the time, no one realized that the media event would mark a turning point in the history of television. Every time I think back on it, I'm overwhelmed by an unsolvable sense of anguish...
