I would add The Deer Hunter, Mission, A Bronx Tale, and Jackie Brown, along with others that I can't recall at the moment (talking about films where he doesn't play a mobster). It's impossible to compare De Niro with Nicholson; they are two completely different actors. A comparison with Pacino is more feasible, but I don't know who would come out on top. As far as I'm concerned, I believe De Niro.
