Ten Years After Cricklewood Green

XGuns4Ever: I don't listen to them anymore, but a few years ago I used to listen to and praise the Guns, until one day I realized they weren't that great. Maybe it's because Slash isn't that strong after all (there's way better out there) or that Axl Rose just keeps rambling about music, and on top of that the lyrics are pretty bad!!! If I had to choose, there are many other bands I'd listen to instead of them. For example: Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, Judas Priest, Raven, Motörhead, the (still AWESOME) Iron Maiden and Metallica. Even further back: Alice Cooper, Blue Öyster Cult, Rainbow, Rush, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, or Led Zeppelin. Anyway, one day you'll realize (hopefully) that metal is appealing and badass, but it's just a small branch of the (so vast) music world, and you'll start listening to other stuff too. There are so many musical genres that allow us to appreciate music in all its art, why limit ourselves to just one?

So your (lively) tormentor gave you good advice, didn't he? :) You know I like this review; maybe it's because you did it on this album, it seems less pretentious than the others. I'm not giving you a 5 because you didn't mention "Diana" and "Song To Comus," not to mention the others. In my opinion, it's among the top 5 (or 6) albums of all time. I was blown away when I listened to it. The Herald is among the most intense and profound compositions my ear has had the pleasure of hearing. GRANDMA'S RECIPE: Roll yourself a nice joint of good weed in good company in the car (maybe with the windows closed). Hold each hit in your lungs for about 5-6 seconds. Halfway through the joint, start the CD so that "Diana" begins to take you into that fantastic world made of both celestial and disturbing atmospheres. By the time you're finished, "The Herald" will have already started, and when the song starts fading around 3:45, get ready to be underneath it forever!
