Dozer Beyond Colossal
Voto:
The daring (as you say) and relative comparison with The Mars Volta has intrigued me! I will listen!
Riverside Voices In My Head
Voto:
@Ardalo: Yes, I think "Indukti" is also an excellent project, which proposes a style that somewhat resembles Riverside themselves, with even more experimental structures. Also, in the realm of artists from Poland, S.B.B. truly deserves recognition.
Opeth Morningrise
Voto:
My opinion on Opeth is absolutely positive; "Morningrise" is a masterpiece for me. I believe they are one of the bands that has managed (and still manages) to perfectly blend '70s Prog influences with Metal and consequently with Growl vocals. Not by chance, the name of their album "My Arms, Your Hearse" is taken from a line in the song "Drip Drip" by Comus, a band for which Akerfeldt has always shown a certain interest.
Opeth The Roundhouse Tapes
Voto:
Great review! Opeth are one of my favorite bands in Metal, you did well to mention the historic bands from the '70s, the influence is evident and brilliantly captured by them even in this Live show, all the performances of the tracks are beautiful, including a version of "Blackwater Park" that's about 18 minutes long.
Green Carnation Acoustic Verses
Voto:
Excellent review and great job by Green Carnation; among their previous works, one in particular was "Light of Day, Day of Darkness." I really appreciated the stylistic changes of various Metal bands, including Ulver and Anathema.
Putiferio Ate Ate Ate
Voto:
Great suggestion for an album that I will definitely look for. The Italian underground, in my opinion, is really offering some convincing proposals in these genres. Besides Zu, other notable projects are Dead Elephant and Ufomammut.
Set Fire to Flames Sings Reign Rebuilder
Voto:
Godspeed You! Black Emperor are for me the pinnacle of Post Rock, their discography is, in my opinion, close to perfection, and this Set Fire To Flames project is also excellent.
Fates Warning A Pleasant Shade Of Grey
Voto:
As for the first Prog Metal album, I would say it’s "Operation: Mindcrime" by Queensryche. "Images & Words" by DT will have the merit of developing the keyboard style with Kevin Moore; I consider "A Pleasant Shade Of Grey" to be the best album by Fates Warning.
Sausage Riddles Are Abound Tonight
Voto:
The Sausage were missing on Debaser, great choice to review this project by Claypool. The album is definitely below some of the greatest Primus albums, but it's still well-crafted, and I've had the chance to appreciate it quite a bit as well. I share the admiration for Les Claypool, one of the most important figures in '90s rock.
Jordan Rudess The Road Home
Voto:
As for Tool, I have many praises to spend on them because they are my favorite metal band, along with a few others like Opeth, Fates Warning, Cynic, Gordian Knot. @Senzastile: basically, you prefer that style of Prog or music in general where there are no keyboard sounds like those of Genesis, Yes, or Dream Theater; everyone has their own preferences.
