In my opinion, not us, but the "next human generation" could achieve this goal. You don't really think that human evolution stopped with homo sapiens sapiens, do you? Dear Omaha, I have to admit that I don't know as much about philosophy as you do, but I would reflect before stating that science is based on dogmas. Dogmas are assertions that have no basis in objective reality but are to be accepted based on an act of faith; for example, the resurrection of Christ or the Immaculate Conception are dogmas. The examples you provide refer to phenomena that have been experimentally DEMONSTRATED. Then, what do you mean by the vanity of matter? It escapes me. One thing is the philosophy of science, which is ABOUT science but not IN science; another is true Science itself.

Macaco, have you read Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep??? Because what you talk about in your last post in this novel is defined as Transcendence. In a nutshell, when a species reaches the highest degree of evolution, it "abandons" its physical/corporeal state to assume a configuration that less evolved species consider divine, but which is nothing more than the ultimate stage of evolution and knowledge, since you mentioned the topic...
