Indeed, as a singer Grohl is beyond discussion.
Although he’s not technically monstrous, he has a unique energy and tone. He has his own style and is instantly recognizable. In QOTSA, he is magnificent.
But for me, the point is the same, that as a songwriter he is truly mediocre.
He has written some nice songs, but in most cases, he has produced pieces devoid of any originality and of undeniable quality...

"To be listened to without prejudice because it's easy to shoot off useless critiques, because they're on MTV, they go to Festivalbar and they win it, and the teenage girls are crazy about them... this is hot air... and it would still be shooting, but then... 'missed target'. ??????? What? And why, if I were to find them (and I really do) dull and sycophantic, would I be loaded with prejudices? Let’s not kid ourselves, these guys are the worst that the emerging Italian music scene can offer us. Especially considering their background and the fact that it's clearly sycophantic music designed to sell tons of records without caring about quality or decency. They should be locked up!!!"
