Alexander, I haven't seen the film and I really don't think I will (also because it seems to me that with the glasses the ticket price is increased, right?) but the plot is so predictable it's the same damn American ball: him, her, and the villain, isso, essa e u' malamente. Always the same thing, always the same script. All of this made even more annoying by this unprecedented promotional campaign (which is bearing fruit, I see, given the throngs of hens crowding in front of cinemas) and the fact that if Cameron didn't have a billion-dollar budget every time, he wouldn't even be able to direct a Simmenthal commercial.

A few days before the release of Pes 2010, some authoritative gaming websites were already calling it "the best Pes in history" (mind you, I'm talking about the version for that old hunk of junk, the Playstation 2). And after two months of intense testing (intense, well, I’m not 19 anymore; love it or hate it, the time to play keeps getting less, but I make the most of it), I can calmly confirm those enthusiastic first impressions: it truly is the best Pes in history (I'm still talking about the Ps2 version, just to be clear). I find myself getting angry over a loss, cursing for a goal-scoring opportunity thrown down the drain, clenching my fist for a goal in a tight match... just like 10-11 years ago. The matches are realistic and engaging, the level of commitment is the same as it was with the early chapters of the series or with the extremely difficult Pes5. If I had to pinpoint a flaw, it’s the "legacy" of that abomination called Pes6: defenders still show hints, in certain moments, of the heavy cluelessness inflicted on them by Konami in that disastrous chapter: they’re gradually recovering, year after year they’ve become incrementally stronger, but now and then they pull off those unrealistic blunders reminiscent of Pes6, as if they’re still under the effects of an epoch-defining hangover that’s hard to shake off; I hope I’ve made myself clear. It will be tough to see them back to the glory days of Pes5 in the future, but besides that, it truly feels like we’re back to being teenagers. The holiday tournaments with old friends have been even more hilarious than usual, filled with laughter and curses, thanks to a game that has finally, and with great effort, returned to its proper levels. Thanks to Pes, we all become a bit like kids again, even as we approach our 30s: a bittersweet commentary, but when it needs to be said, it needs to be said.

I saw it again a few days ago on Rete4, and it’s incredible. Incredible how it retains its charm with every viewing. Every time it seems like the first time, even if you know it by heart. The tension when Kane descends onto the unknown planet, when they explore the abandoned spaceship "for millions of years" as the petrified alien on its seat testifies, the ability of those damned eggs to defy time, the fact that it remains the best possible science fiction movie for pondering "what lies hidden in the universe, I wonder if somewhere, in the inconceivable vastness of deep space, something like this exists, or even worse." Because I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found a sort of vein of realism in this masterpiece; I don’t know why, I’ve always felt it was different from other science fiction films, much more plausible: that there is other life in space is practically certain, the odds are in the order of 18 zeros, billions of billions. That this life could also be hostile. Perhaps it’s for the best that no one ever finds us.

And anyway, there are no books or pamphlets that hold up. "Dear, I love you" by Elio e le Storie Tese, and you'll know everything you need to know about women.

For those who complain about women's salaries being lower than men's, I remind you that this fact is largely offset by the shameful jurisprudence regarding separations and divorces, not so, just to... A billion dollars in alimony for a woman who until the day before had been able to survive on yogurt and salad. If there's a child involved, the ex-husband ends up right at the Caritas soup kitchen. So women, instead of complaining, marry the rich jerk, have a child with him, leave him for a Moroccan over 20 (cm), and life will smile at you. Ah, and for the record, before I start getting 'loser can't get laid' etc., I've been in a relationship for years and I get laid regularly.

On Playstation 3, maybe Fifa is better than Pes (although, in my opinion, they are equal and those who really understand video games say they are "complementary": what one lacks, the other has, and vice versa), but on Play2, Pes is still the life.

Very little is known about the PS2 version; out of 100 news items that come out—videos, news, photos, etc.—99 are for next-gen and one is for the PS2. What a bunch of idiots; if they did a proper market survey, they would see that there are still a ton of Play2 owners and that not everyone has 400 bucks to spend on a console and a game, not to mention that you also need an HD TV, and if you don't already have one, nobody's giving you that for free either. Anyway, I was saying, very little is known about the PS2 version. From the demo and the few bits of information, we know that the game will be a bit harder, more simulation-oriented, and slower, with defenders more alert—not quite like in the legendary PES5, but almost. It's known that there will be almost 200 new faces, and that there will be a Champions League mode (but not the UEFA League). And that's it. Nothing more is known. It's unclear whether the Champions mode will be implemented in Master League, whether there will be 18 empty teams to edit like in PES6 and PES08, or whether all the new teams that will be in Play3 will also be in this version—no clue whatsoever. One can only infer (or rather, hope) that, seeing as this year Konami has decided to put more effort into developing PES, and considering the whole face thing, maybe, and I say maybe, we'll have a complete game without last year's bugs even on Old Gen, especially since they're working off a base that's years old and it takes 5 minutes to fix flaws or add things. Fingers crossed.
