So... in part I feel like quoting him, I don’t know, Cohen has always seemed to me a lone wolf, and his music reveals passion, melancholy... in this live performance, in my opinion, he steps away from this favorable context; it remains a great album but not as transcendental as some of his works (remember "Songs of Love and Hate" from 1971). The review is well written and with a sincere feeling towards this "painter of the soul"; it’s clear that you hold him in high regard, and thus you have my support.
