"The story is very slow and it's not clear what it wants to convey. I had to find the symbolic interpretation on the internet and in my dad's cinema books: it seems absurd to me that in order to interpret something I see, I have to go read what others think about the story I've watched; it means that the message doesn't get through." Have you ever considered that perhaps you lack the necessary tools to understand a film like this and not just this one? The symbols and references used in works of art are part of a shared culture; it's clear that if someone is unfamiliar with it, they can't grasp it. With this line of reasoning, everything would be thrown down the toilet, from Cinderella to Joyce's Ulysses. You are wrong to say that the works you review are not valid; you simply don't reach them. Regards.

What good are the arrangements and the solos if the song itself is cr*p?

Vasco, the shows of De Filippi, Studio Aperto, Big Brother, L'Isola dei Famosi, TG4, ringtone for cell phones, the Berlusconi government, censorship... it’s all part of the game, guys. It’s a conspiracy to erase our neurons, we’re already in it up to our necks! As long as I can, I will resist! I, Lux, Marpado, and a few others will be the last bastion against the dark forces of this early millennium, just like in Fahrenheit 451!! Gustavo, “Faccio il militare” isn’t a song: it’s a glaring demonstration of how drugs can be so harmful. Anyway, I had a classmate in high school who tried every type of chemical compound and then would grab the guitar and compose in a haze, the result was pretty much similar if not even better, but no one ever called him an artist; actually, I believe he ended up in a community. Vasco just had the luck to make so much money that he reached that dimension where the habits of a junkie are no longer a problem for your life.

Maybe yes, I was wrong... or maybe I can't stand those who stubbornly refuse to acknowledge a certain state of affairs, to the point of allowing themselves to make jokes ("Has the shadow of Arcore not reached here yet?"). Beyond any presumed bias of mine, I take this opportunity to point out how once again you have showcased your skill at dodging the same old questions that have been the focus of this discussion for now 170 comments, and especially your remarkable tenacity in continuing to confuse communist ideology with the tyrants who have implemented it without explaining why you keep talking about the two as if they were interchangeable (with the same reasoning, the Apostles were murderers because in the Middle Ages there were those who killed in the name of Christ).

You’re quite confused, dear Hetzer, let me tell you. “A certain political culture has pointed out for decades and still points in communism the only way to purity and justice”? Ah, and what would that be? Not that I had realized I had communists at home, you know? Perhaps, as a convinced Berlusconi supporter, you have hallucinations where you see Veltroni and D'Alema raising their fists while singing the Internationale, but the rest of us mere mortals are aware that the old ideological divisions no longer exist... You're curious, you worshippers of the Little Man, you keep repeating that ideologies are dead and yet you see communists everywhere (the fascists with whom you’re happily allied, on the other hand, you strangely ignore). What's incredible is the skill you have in criticizing, pointing the finger at the word "communist" as an inquisitor would at a heretic, while skillfully dodging the most pressing questions: how to counter a rotten system - the capitalist one - that continues to cause social injustice and deaths from hunger? How to oppose the reigning logic of “instant gratification” and profit at any cost? We're sinking, dear Hetzer, precisely because of that liberal system that you seem to defend so ardently. But no, our ideas are crazy, “the shadow of Arcore”… I find it astonishing the gentle naivety with which people like you manage to maintain the condescending attitude so typical of the bourgeois class while they’re being cheated right under their noses. I’m not saying you should take a stand, heavens no, I know that having an opinion costs you effort and you use your vote to delegate the boring task of thinking to others, but at least a little criticism, an active stance just to realize that they’re pulling a fast one on you. And instead, you persist with the attitude of someone who considers themselves superior to such things (conspiracy theories? Child’s play, tsk...) and scoffs from the comfort of their common sense, thinking themselves superior besides. The “intellectualism” (the term you use to label any reasoning that goes beyond two logical steps) doesn’t apply to you, you’re superior and focus on the practical. You’re proud of not being as “cultured” as those on the left, yet you behave as if you were, perhaps with even more arrogance. Hold on to your freedom of opinion on a music review site like this, whereas I remember how many free information sites and blogs have been silenced for being too "biased." Hetzer, you are the perfect portrait of Italian intellectual and political failure, the classic figure of the happy and duped do-gooder. I hope this time you will respond soon, and without hiding behind convenient half-baked rhetoric.

Alessioiride, with that thing where you don’t care about the well-being of man but only about his elimination, you’ve created in me an instant feeling of deep sympathy towards you. But what am I saying, sympathy; let’s call it almost affection. Luckily, every now and then someone says things with sincerity instead of getting tangled up in the usual good-for-nothing, well-mannered bullshit that people who are proper and decent so much enjoy.

Great review. It's always good to remind ourselves, with striking examples, of the level of cultural backwardness in our beautiful country.

Well, you’re 15, but you’ve still spouted an enormous amount of nonsense. The novel you reviewed isn’t a story by Moccia (which I recommend if you need “more intriguing” readings from your point of view). What seems to you like an unnecessary prolongation, the long descriptions, the landscapes, the forests, the world, well, let me reveal something to you: they are precisely the ultimate essence of the book. The adventure of the characters carrying the ring is almost secondary, as it’s clear that that funny little thing called Frodo will make it; you can tell from the first line. But look at this joker Tolkien, he wrote a book where what seems like a perfectly normal adventure is actually the background, and what is commonly the background is in fact the true protagonist of the novel. Otherwise, do you think it’s silly that he devoted an entire chapter to Tom Bombadil, who is completely unrelated to the story? He didn’t write this novel in two days, you know? The attachment of people and every living being to Nature (the forests walk because the Ents are beings so ancient and wise that they have become trees themselves, since wisdom coincides with closeness to Nature, being penetrated by the superior spirit that generated it), seen in such a divine sense, is the message that Tolkien wanted to communicate, and that you completely misunderstood; in fact, what do I say misunderstood, you’ve missed it by about 200 light years. Maybe before reading (and reviewing) such a complex work, it would have been wise to at least inform yourself a little. Well, I’ve been pretty harsh; see you next time.
