Marco Carta Live @ Fiera Campionaria di Cagliari 06.09.09

Voodoomiles, no there’s no difference. The choice of Marco Carta or any black/growl/death/grind/pop/dance group depends solely on how alternative the yyyyouth feels and how much they want to prove they’re better than the others. It’s the same old story: to stand out, they conform, and if anyone dares to truly stand out, they get beaten up for it. Long live the yyyoung people of today :)

Great review, well done.

I correct myself: to minimize any criticism of the DTs under the pretext that it's now fashionable to criticize them. Re-greetings.

Strange, it seemed to me that the trend for the past 20 years has been to tear one's hair out over every crap that comes out under the name Dream Theater. And it also seemed to me that there was an even more absurd one: justifying every criticism of the DT by saying that it's now the trend to criticize them. Regards.

"I have always believed that anyone can try their hand at photography given the automatic nature of the act of taking a shot." I know people who have studied photography for years, who could kill after such a sentence. And I somewhat understand them.

"A thought-provoking read, ultimately, that explains to us how we should not fear any 'killer cow', and how homosexuality is, all things considered, quite normal, with homosexuals being citizens like everyone else, to whom no one should ever turn their back." There are so many things wrong here that one either responds with an entire book, or hopes that the author of such idiocy might wake up one day and come to this realization on their own (or, alternatively, self-eliminate, which would be better). I choose the latter, fully aware that someone like this will never get there, so puffed up with the nonsense disguised as grand discourses that they prance about with. Tell me, are you by any chance a journalist? Because you say absolutely nothing, you're only capable of provoking and pissing off the people who read you: you have a career ahead of you. At Studio Aperto.

I knew that the failure of Communism (and of a certain current of the left, let's say) was also connected to some dark pages of our history, according to which it might seem that certain foreign powers poked their noses into our affairs to avert the "red threat" with means that were not exactly peaceful. And if there was such a "threat" that it could provoke certain mechanisms, I think we weren't that conservative after all; on the contrary, who knows, perhaps a turning point (good or bad, I don't know) was possible. As for Fascism, stating that it collapsed because Italians are conservative only brings me a fit of nervous, convulsive laughter. De Lorenzo, so much syntactic and glottological effort just to spout clichés worthy of the worst populism from Studio Aperto, only to conclude that the current ruling class continues the work of the DC. You are the best discoverer of hot water I have ever seen on this site.

I've already lost faith in democracy, then in every form of government, and now I'm losing faith in humanity. The moral little rules that are often flaunted in these discussions are the bread with which they comfort the poor excluded from the table of the rich. If they were sitting there eating at the lords' table, they wouldn't give a damn about establishing what is right and what is wrong with such precision. The truth is that they dictate what we must do to survive, and that's it. They have money, they have power, and they effectively determine how the world should work. They've won, if you haven't figured it out yet. The only thing left for me to keep from going insane is to look at the absurd side of things to have a laugh every now and then, provided I feel like it.

Cotroneo embodies everything I fiercely hate about the bourgeois "leftist" moralism. He is the living example of how the ideals of a political movement with a precise historical and social identity have devolved into themselves, becoming the true ultra-conservative glue that prevents this disgusting system from evolving. It is surprising and shocking to realize how the revolutionaries of the past have transformed in less than 40 years into the worst prudes that recent history remembers.

Yeah. I know that saying certain things risks making me sound racist, but here in Rome there are entire historic neighborhoods (San Lorenzo above all, but also, for example, Pigneto) where, in the span of 20 years, the main dialect has shifted from Romanesco to Salentino. I used to go to San Lorenzo often to drink and hang out with friends, but now it's practically impossible; it has become some sort of open-air community center where a Roman born and raised in Rome feels out of place. And I hate these people who, in 90% of cases, take advantage of the fact that mom and dad are footing the bill while their little one is getting their degree (good luck with that); I hate that when you meet someone IN ROME and tell them you're FROM ROME, they now respond, "Really, from Rome?" as if you were the exception; I hate that these people come here to enjoy themselves under the pretext of university life and consider this city as an eternal holiday camp where everyone is friends and loves one another to the rhythm of music; I hate these people who can only offer you the usual four clichés about Puglia and Southern Italy (instead of working to debunk them, they revel in them) and, because of this, they convince themselves that they must be likable to you; I hate that these people talk about their homeland only in terms of food, wine, sun, and sea, completely ignoring the ancient history and culture of the place they come from; and finally, I hate when these outsiders even have the nerve to complain (on top of everything) about Rome because there's too much traffic, too much chaos, too much pollution, and they never miss an opportunity to remind you how beautiful their land is instead (from which, curiously, they have fled, how come?). Sorry for the rant, Casamorta, I hope you don't take it the wrong way.
