Metallica Black Album

Well, excuse me then if I'm not culturally on Vic's level, but honestly, at this point, I refuse to be. I'm not defending the Metallica's actions and I never will. They’re clearly a sold-out band, but the Black Album, FOR ME (read: for my very personal and highly debatable tastes) is a good album (obviously not the best and obviously not metal). That said, I do NOT want Vic to change his opinions and/or tastes on the matter (if he thinks the album sucks, what do I care! He doesn't like it, that's it! He can't say he likes it just to please me). The point is something else. Namely, that the things he wrote are a collection of garbage and vulgarities. Nothing more. Anyone who reads this "review" or pseudo-review without ever having listened to the Black Album won't understand a damn thing other than that Vic has never liked Metallica since their debut. And honestly, that too doesn't bother me at all. I certainly don’t force him to say that Metallica are the best band on the planet (because, to be fair, they are not and they’re not even my favorite band. However, Master of Puppets is history). And frankly, I don’t know what to do with his opinion or yours, dear The Prince. I believe I wrote in Italian and communicated something. I have no intention of killing public opinion. I’m also a reviewer and I also work on a site. I too have slaughtered Kings of Metal, calling it the shittiest album in heavy metal. I've been targeted, but in the end, I don’t give a damn! I don't like the album. The rest of the world does. But I explained why I don’t like it. Then everyone can keep their opinions, and if you want to stay locked in your shell without any possibility of being open to criticisms from outsiders, then good for you. And all the best wishes are yours.

I just want to respond to SOAP. Both Show No Mercy and Kill 'Em All have nothing to do with thrash. The former has more sounds dedicated to the NWOBHM; the latter, on the other hand, has a bit of thrash but a lot of punk and a lot of NWOBHM. Thrash was "invented" by Metallica. But inventing does not mean dreaming it at night or having a hallucination or, even, a mystical crisis. Inventing means experimenting. So, to be fair, Metallica presented a raw thrash in Kill 'Em All, later refined in the second album, which is slightly more technical. Slayer just took it to the extreme. But the number one will always be Testament with The Legacy, damn! They don't invent anything, but that album is an atomic bomb...

Those who keep saying the cover is ugly not only don’t understand a damn thing but also haven’t listened to the title track, nor, for that matter, bothered to read the lyrics. You bunch of illiterate idiots, the puppeteer in question is not a fire-eater but is a double entendre, a metaphor that alludes to drugs, alcohol, and their excessive use and effects on your shitty brains! That’s why there are crosses (where those who use such substances eventually end up) and there are hands holding the strings. Got it, mentally underdeveloped? Furthermore, anyone who criticizes the song and the entire album is either a jerk or a natural idiot. There are no middle grounds.

Should I laugh or get angry at these words? Frankly, I didn’t understand them, just as I didn’t understand your review. The fact is that the things I wrote were not said by me but were echoed and reiterated by the worldwide press and public opinion as a whole. But excuse me if I’m not intelligent enough to appreciate your vulgarities (and not your review). Excuse me if I will never be able to write a Master of Puppets or a The Call of Ktulu (you, on the other hand, from what you write, would be much more gifted than Metallica, right?). Should I make a life for myself? You, on the other hand, can go jerk off and go to hell. If you want to review records, at least have the decency to review them and not to write crap and nonsense, swear words and so on. I’ve read countless reviews of the Black Album. Most of them, it’s true, were negative. But they were reviews. They described the sound; they didn’t label it as metal. But yours is not a review. Yours is just sperm. As for my life, well, that’s my own business...

I have nothing against Manowar (even if their attitude kinda gives me ...). I really enjoy their early albums, from Battle Hymns to Fighting the World. But Kings of Metal, I just can't stomach it... Am I the rotten apple? Meh....
cia-ciao!

de gustibus... anyway, to me, the album was crap. Calling themselves "Kings of Metal" is too pretentious. Of course, they have to deliver an album worthy of the name it carries, not some mediocre piece of garbage or not even that. Not even bands that could have and/or deserved to do so dared as much. I randomly cite Queensryche (Operation: Mindcrime), Iron Maiden (any album from the first ones up to Seventh Son...), Judas Priest (Painkiller). Do I really need to continue? Kings of Metal? Hmm... maybe Kings of Merdal...

this album really sucks ass. Half of the tracks are instrumental intros or narratives that are just boring as hell. The other songs are the most tacky, idiotic, and predictable things the Merdowar have ever produced after that other inhumane crap called Kings of Merdal. It's an authorized theft, that's what this thing is. And the cover is really in bad taste, just like their music....
