You see, unlike you, I listen to Peter Brötzmann, Derek Bailey, and I don’t brag about it as if I were listening to some hidden music, but I also don’t see why I should deprive myself of various Santana and Zappa, etc...

PVC more than you since I’ve never said anything like that (and you act alternative just because you listen to stuff that most people don’t know and think you're cool)... But let’s get to the point, I think many comments are aimed at me because I’m labeled as Zappa's "fun" with blinders on. Now, it’s true that here on Debaser I present myself as an avid fan and it seems I only listen to him, see also the albums included in my Debaser collection (even though that's not true since my comments on jazz records and others are there) but in reality, I listen to a lot of stuff; I have over 1200 CDs, including rock (I include blues and derivatives) and especially jazz, plus a bit of classical (but not too much)… Sure, I consider Zappa a genius of 20th-century music, someone who changed the way I listen but also see things... Drogarto, you’re the one (I don’t remember who wrote it, but I read it among the various posts because he wrote a piece like "Cocaine Decision" that is clearly against, but a stupid person only skims the surface) those who talk nonsense about Zappa do a disservice to this immense man (especially when talking about music and knowing nothing about it)... I fully agree with Supersoul that even the lesser albums contain gems. Yes! I’m one of those who says that no Zappa album is terrible... but not because I have blinders on; rather, the opposite... because I understood many years ago that his work is a unique body of work (the same as what Kerouac did for his books). Sure, there’s the masterpiece album and there’s the adequate one (but they contain musical phrases not to be underestimated, especially in pieces that seem more straightforward)... I’d like to also remember that musically more evolved societies (not only that) have already dedicated streets and squares to this extraordinary man. Now I’ll stop because I don’t feel like writing anymore and I imagine you care little about what I think, but I wanted to say it, and those who don't want to listen to Zappa shouldn't, and who cares (if only he had been my neighbor and played only for me).
