Oliver Stone Platoon
Voto:
"Apocalypse Now" (then someone will say it's not a movie about Vietnam blah blah blah) and "Full" are untouchable, and then the other masterpiece is, but third, "The Deer Hunter."

"Clockwork Orange only good? No, then I take away two points - I agree! Anyway, for me "Platoon" is a good film but nothing more, definitely overrated... Oliver Stone is a decent director and perhaps this is still his best along with JFK."

But I’m not changing my mind just because you say so... 2001 is acted superbly, I wouldn’t say it’s just average, but it’s a masterpiece. Is "shining" beautiful because Nicholson is extraordinary? I wouldn’t really say so; his acting definitely adds to it overall. Is "taxi driver" a masterpiece just because there’s a stratospheric De Niro? Same as above, and so on...

In "Scarface," I agree with Mr. Pacino, but I wouldn't dismiss a superb screenplay, an outstanding direction, and an impressive editing. If you want to reduce it to the "sole" performance of Pacino, that's your narrow point of view.

You know what Marlon Brando said (not just some actor), "if you want to see the actor, go to the theater; in the movies, you see the directors" (it’s not literal, but that was the gist).
Woody Allen Basta Che Funzioni

"In the struggle between you and the world, stand on the side of the world." I really liked this. I found the film to be of excellent quality with ideas reminiscent of Allen... Then that flavor of "The Purple Rose of Cairo" without the dream but with cynicism is of great value to me; I don't find the downsides you mention, excellent film.

TELESPALLABOB to say that I do NOT agree with you is an understatement... movies are made by DIRECTORS, not by actors who are an ingredient, and sure, when they are excellent they are the cherry on top, but not the other way around... Unless we are talking about films based exclusively on acting (like "Americani") maybe give me some examples...
Steven Spielberg Schindler's List
Voto:
"La vita è bella" is a mediocre film; I hope it’s not worse than "Train de vie"... even Kubrick was working on a Holocaust film, but after the release of "Schindler's List", he abandoned the project, damn Spielberg.... (even though they were friends)
