trickykid, look, covering a song doesn't mean it's good; it might be famous or well-known by the masses, but not good. No one hides the fact that Nirvana is a mass phenomenon (think, I listened to them, unfortunately, when they had just come out—youth mistakes—when these 4 whiny kids who praise them as the greatest rock band of all time still had milk on their lips), and that's why they get covered. But if we're talking about the quality of music, we need to make a clear distinction.

Rikardo, I don’t know what you know and appreciate about jazz, but when it comes to cinema, excuse me, but you don’t understand a damn thing. Of course, one doesn’t watch Bird to see a bibliography of the great jazz musician; thankfully, there are well-made printed ones that exist. The film is, or tries to be, a work of art, not a literal transposition of life or an event that happened; otherwise, they’d be called documentaries, if you didn’t know. This is one of the most beautiful visual tributes a director can give to music.

What a load of crap. How many covers or standards exist (I don't know Veloso's one) that are much better than the originals? A ton!

Burroughs will NEVER be remembered for the collaboration with Nirvana, but for something far more significant... Nirvana is a cultural phenomenon, certainly not one of artistic value; none of their albums marks a milestone in rock music, perhaps their look and the way they present themselves on TV or in front of an audience mark it more.

Yes, for me it’s also a 4.5 movie. Chicken, you really love cinema, I must say. You have a Gilliam film on DVD, not Mr. Nobody, and you don’t even watch it, and you sell it too? Congratulations, you really understand cinema.

this is not a film about jazz this film IS JAZZ (in your review, little is said about the jazz-like narrative structure of this film, dear professor)!!!! maybe that's why Lee took it so hard that a white man made a film more black than his (great job, Lee, anyway).
Master Eastwood certainly didn't give his best in "A Perfect World," which is by no means a masterpiece, even though it remains a good film; "Mystic River" is definitely superior.
