It’s also true what you’re saying, Alessio, but I have never made judgments without a real reason, which is exactly what Azzo is doing.

"Collins' molasses voice" may not be to everyone's liking, but there are still many pieces where Collins doesn't utter a word "the syrupy keyboards" in the early Genesis period I don't remember syrupy keyboards "the guitars that double the keyboards" this occurs in a minority of pieces "and the doubled voice to give a feeling of power, which otherwise isn't there." Aside from the fact that you don't make precise references here either, and assuming there isn't actually power, do you really think all singers should have "vocal power"? They absolutely convey a sense of power, and if you want to pretend that they don't, that's another matter.

"Of course Arnold, Collins's syrupy voice, the honeyed keyboards, the guitars doubling the keyboards, and the doubled vocals to create a sense of power that otherwise isn't there (10 seconds of Iggy on stage are more 'powerful' than any Genesis piece) are not musical notes. They are inventions." Oh, but now you're just sticking to Genesis? You said that all prog is crap.

Various statements of nonsense have no reason to exist: "to show how smart and capable they are": sure, but not just that, first of all there's passion. "And with the audience, they no longer have a damn thing to do" you're very wrong, since in the '70s they had a huge following and even today, nearly 40 years later, there are still people who listen to them. "Not enough, however, to be classical musicians." This assertion doesn't hold water. An artist plays what they like, not what their skill allows them, assuming that one genre could be superior to another, which I doubt. "Waters, who isn’t an idiot, even made an album that many consider very important" this has nothing to do with prog. "Those who try to pass it off as Beethoven are just the biggest idiots."?? Meaning? Who has tried to pass off rock as Beethoven, and above all, "tried to pass off" in what sense? "It’s energy, anger, frustration. All stuff that in prog, four rich kids who went to art schools and spent their days studying their instruments, don't have." Firstly, if you think you can say that a band is crap because it doesn’t convey anger and frustration, you’re on the wrong path. At most you can say that you don’t like it for this reason. There is definitely energy; maybe you didn’t listen closely enough. Then, clearly you've only listened to prog bands that don’t convey anger and frustration, and you completely ignore bands like Brainticket, High Tide, Comus, Monument, Magma, the Italians Jacula, and I could go on until tomorrow naming them, not to mention kraut, which, well, is another genre and let's leave it aside. "And they spent the day studying their instrument" so what? Are they crap for this? Again, it's unclear what you mean. Regarding the "rich kids," it's better not to respond, as there are very few cases of this, and anyway, music is a gift that belongs to everyone, regardless of being rich or poor; you took a strand of hair and made a fur coat out of it.

Huh? Sorry, I don't see these previous notes, are you dreaming them??

@alessioIRIDE: okay, I'll do it, but I doubt I'll like it. Keep in mind that I'm not even enthusiastic about the version of the same Pink Floyd with Gilmour instead of Barrett.

Bah, for me that's their only flawless album, the transitions in the final suite that could have been avoided are really few, just a matter of a few seconds at most...their other albums from the 70s all have their highs and lows.

"The Genesis simply crushes balls with their sickly sweet melodies and the English countryside." Great explanation, technical and profound.

I don't remember if I said it :D Anyway, the year, the place, the time for me is the best moment.

A remarkable leap perhaps for D'Orazio, but the trend of the Pooh has been clearly declining. Parsival is a masterpiece, Viva is a good album.
