BUT I ALSO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID, but I was talking about being on TREND, for heaven's sake, TREND AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE, and luckily I even specified it. I like Slint, ("...Slint, Tortoise or Labradford (who don't make second-rate post-rock as you claimed)" SORRY, WHERE DID I EVER SAY THAT SLINT OR THESE OTHER BANDS MAKE SECOND-RATE POST-ROCK??), I like Tool, I like Wyatt (even though I don’t know Soft Machine), and they are leading artists. I never said they are less skilled or second-rate artists; quite the contrary. However, one thing is clear: "GNR, IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, NIRVANA... ARE MORE MYTHICIZED AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE..." it’s undeniable; they are the bands that set trends among young people even after 10 years, and I specified it for the simple reason that the esteemed gentleman above makes me want to laugh and, frankly, take a dump (who suddenly got serious and evacuated his "demons"). He had sarcastically laughed when I said that GNR set trends among people: I just explained to him that it is indeed so, regardless of the fact that nowadays "pop" substitutes, or (fake) alternative rock, or (fake) punk, or nu-metal are in fashion. Just read more carefully and remember that to avoid mistakes and misunderstandings, I underline and copy-paste in my comments the things said by the person I'm talking to!...

"Too bad Pantera aren't metal..." At first they played glam metal, can you believe it? But by the 3rd album, they started embracing more thrash metal sounds, leading up to "Cowboys from Hell," "Vulgar Display of Power," and "Far Beyond Driven," their classic and most famous albums, where the PANTERA STYLE is firmly established: it's thrash-groove metal, especially in Far Beyond Driven, the heaviest of the three. In the last years of their career, they further mutated their genre: it might sound like blasphemy, but they paved the way for nu-metal (even though there's no comparison in terms of quality!), in fact, the last Pantera albums are considered Pre-Nu Metal. Oh, and by the way, Manowar is also great, and what an amazing album...

"Sure, all today’s industrial-rock, nu-metal, post-rock, punk, and noise bands look to Guns N' Roses as a reference model AHAHAHHHHAAAAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!! Poor idiot, how much don’t you understand? First of all, I said that GNR trend among regular folks, not in the modern pop-post-rock-nu metal-alternative rock-two-bit punk culture. But you should know that most of those bands making that kind of music today used to play something completely different. A band that signs with a record label must, by necessity, sell out to avoid being "dropped," and consequently, they play the genres that are in fashion. But BEFORE signing with a record label, any band pays their dues playing in pubs, venues, and "cool" spots to get known, and they don’t play their own songs, but obviously COVER songs: METALLICA, NIRVANA, GNR, IRON MAIDEN: in Italy, these are the MOST COVERED BANDS. If you go to a rock party with live music, or to a cover band concert, or step into a random pub with live music, do you think you’ll hear Tool (great band), or Slint (great band)? If it's metal music, you’ll definitely hear Metallica and Iron Maiden; if it’s a rock and hard-rock band you’ll most likely hear Guns N’ Roses. Try picking up any music newspaper with listings and ads, and you’ll read "Looking for singer/guitarist/drummer/bassist... to play Nirvana, Soundgarden, GNR, Iron Maiden, Metallica": these are the most played, the most famous bands. Then, as already mentioned, they change genre for label-related reasons. Last thing: have you heard of GAZOSA? Yes, those who made "WWW MI PIACI TU," that crappy little song... Well, WATCH HOW AND WHAT THEY SOUNDED LIKE BEFORE BEING PRODUCED BY DJ ALBERTINO, selling out to the crude pop substitute..."

4 for the enthusiasm and courage... The album is a 2.5 MAX. The times of "Images and Words" are quite far away.

"The second point is about the concept of impact: when you referred to impact, I was considering a musical impact on rock and the artists that followed, not as you stated in the last post, the impact on people. I meant on people: and unlike Britney Spears (who, as you mentioned, also had a strong impact on people), their impact hasn't faded after 2-3 albums. Britney Spears was a phenomenon for 3-4 years, now even dogs don't care about her anymore; GNR are still trending after 15-20 years: and this is where you can see whether an artist has made great music or just crap. The first never gets old, you rediscover it after whole generations; the second, after a month you throw it to the bottom of a drawer, because in the meantime, it’s gone out of style, trends shift to something else, which will be replaced just as quickly by yet another 'one-month hit parade phenomenon.' Then, I agree on everything else: FOR ME (as I specified in previous interventions), Mr. Big were one of the best bands ever. For you, the Smashing Pumpkins might be superior, but of course, those are personal opinions."

"Finally, I agree with you that Scaruffi is not the gospel, but you must agree with me that it's better to enrich oneself culturally with those who have greater knowledge." Oh, finally, now we get along, and we can wrap it up here. And anyway, I also prefer rock (my nickname speaks for itself), for the reasons you've listed...
