Marco Carta Live @ Fiera Campionaria di Cagliari 06.09.09

Genres: Viking... if only the Vikings really came, they could use it as a figurehead for their ships... 5 for courage: I, even if they had given me the tickets, would have kept my distance :)
As for the Santo Carta, those who say that in a couple of years it will return to the void from where it came are right, but it will simply be replaced by someone of equal caliber or perhaps even worse, so it’s pointless to indulge in illusions... She is right: they will always win...

Never listened to it, although it has always intrigued me (I believe I would prefer the more ambient part rather than the more electronic one)...

Uh... the first three are great works, then I don't know anything else; I've always heard good things about this one, like the album of return/rebirth, but I never got around to looking for it... could this be the right time? :)
Trivium The Crusade

The only album I appreciate from Trivium... but Heafy is really too much of a Hetfield clone: seen live opening for Iron Maiden, he behaved exactly like a young James, filling his sentences with "FUCK!" and "YEAH!"... then nothing to say about the technical skills, though... anyway, I repeat, better this way than in the early metal-core.

Yes, yes, I understood Ali :)
It's just that I've never really understood or appreciated this genre, not even those rare cases you mention in the review (even though I know there are definitely some valid groups). Maybe I’ve just grown old and limited too... (for example, Cannibal Corpse and Necrophagist, which a friend of mine is crazy about, seem to me like bands that flaunt a lot of technical skill and have a somewhat questionable taste for decay and various splatter... it's a personal opinion, I hope I don't stir up a hornet's nest xD)

I will never understand these brutal-gore-grind-death-core bands... all the same, from the names to the "music"... maybe it's because I'm old too, but unlike you, I've never appreciated this genre (excluding the original Scandinavian and American death metal). Fortunately, I've never heard the band, but imagining it to be identical in every way to the thousands of similar bands, I would say my rating would be 0 or thereabouts...
(Because do they always choose the names by randomly flipping through medical magazines?!?)

5 that I’m also putting now... xD

I don't know the box set, but if it includes the first 2 CDs, that's more than enough for a solid 5 :)

Nice review, although a bit sad and melancholic (especially with this rainy day after a couple of weeks of crazy heat, it emphasizes it even more); I listened to the album but remember few things, however, I liked them, so I would say I can give it a 4 on trust... and Matos's voice is fantastic!

"...one of the most beautiful solos by John Petrucci" - "...another of Petrucci's most successful solos": damn, that's how he manages to be so fast: there’s more than one! (given the size, it wouldn't even be that strange...) :-)
