Electronic Arts Fifa 99
Voto:
Fifa '98 was a masterpiece, this one much less so but it was the last beautiful and playable Fifa; from 2000 onwards the series became worse than Holly and Benji. This was the last one I had, I was already starting to play ISS Pro, then I only played 2000 at friends' houses and that’s when I was definitively convinced to switch entirely to PES, which was a whole different thing. Now it seems that Fifa 09 and 10 are significantly better than the rival Konami, is that true? (I don’t have a Playstation 3, obviously?! :D)

Alright, I got it too... in fact, re-reading it makes it clear :)

Good record and good review (even if you talk little about the album, but at least 3 other people have already told you that, so I'll avoid telling you too :D)

Bryan Adams... "Cuts Like a Knife" and "Reckless" are two great albums, then in the '90s after "Waking..." he kind of got lost, and I didn't really listen to much of those albums. I could give this one a listen, if it’s really as you describe it (and I’d say you’ve accomplished your goal, at least with one person :) great review (although, indeed, Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet "meteors" hmm...)
Core Design - Eidos Interactive Tomb Raider

The first one always remains the best (the anniversary reissue is nice too)... a challenging control system like few others, that's true... but together with Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII, it remains one of the most beautiful games of the original PlayStation.
Mark Knopfler Get Lucky

Even though I don't belong to the "hardcore fans," I think Dire Straits were much better; more energetic and much closer to my musical tastes. Knopfler as a solo artist has never excited me... Great review anyway :)

GEB, you've explained yourself, but I still hold my opinion: I don't believe anyone expects innovations from Megadeth or the other historical thrash bands you mentioned; I think it would even be counterproductive to do so (just look at "Risk," where Mustaine clearly tried to make a decisive shift in the band's sound, producing a decent album that was nonetheless buried by critics and fans); just as it would be foolish to expect another "Rust in Peace" simply because "if they succeeded once, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to do it again." It's true that thrash is a genre that had its reason for existence in the '80s, and now innovation lies elsewhere, but those who appreciate the more "traditional" sounds can still find satisfaction in the recent works of Megadeth, Testament, and Death Angel. Instead, I find it out of place (and definitely out of time) that there has been a proliferation of bands formed in recent years imitating the thrash-hardcore style of '80s Bay Area (as well as re-recording their best tracks, see the latest from Exodus).
Metallica Master Of Puppets
Voto:
As a little kid, listening to my brother's cassette tapes, I preferred the self-titled album and "Ride the Lightning"... I only liked the title track (and that's saying something... :D), but then I started to consider it the best of the "early" Metallica, which I still think today: "Master of Puppets," "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)," "Damage Inc." but especially "ORION"...

Okay, it's just that seeing it written: "I hate those who..." irritated me for a moment; I truly believed it wasn't hate in the literal sense (and for personal matters I don't know about, I don't want to get into it; even my "dislikes" lately tend to be directed toward gentlemen of a decent caste, often dressed in white as well, but let's leave that aside... I wouldn't want to truly offend anyone's sensitivity right now...); back to the CD-DISCO-ALBUM discussion... I know well that CD refers to the physical support and I realized, rereading, that in "... the new CD by Megadeth is finally available..." it really sounds off, but it's too late to change now. Anyway, give the album a listen and then let me know what you think, hoping it doesn't turn into a "MERDgame" :) best regards.

Well, I don't know... "Uprising" is not bad at all, but they have never quite convinced me (by the way, I've only listened to the singles that play on the radio/MTV, so...)
