<<It happened that, for a long series of reasons…>> Which? | <<Albums like "As The Flowers Withers" and "The Angel And The Dark River" remain milestones in the death-doom scene>> .."As the Flower Withers" is a raw but still good work; the fundamental album is actually "Turn Loose the Swans," which, by the way, you don't even mention. | <<What, with immense effort, the dying bride published from '98 onwards has always seemed to me far too constrained by boring and musty clichés>> Like? | <<The magical violin of Martin Powell replaced by gaudy keyboards>> The keyboards are well balanced and fit perfectly with the raw and grim refinement of the album, which, by the way, has little gothic about it: for this reason, try to imagine SODWOL with a melancholic and delicate violin instead of the macabre and oppressive touch of the keyboards. It would turn out quite poorly. | <<The lyrics that, in hindsight, make one bust out laughing!>> Give me some examples. I can accept the naïve lyrics of "My Wine in Silence," but everything else is written to perfection: "The Scarlet Garden" is subtle and wicked, "Catherine Blake," as already mentioned, apocalyptic, "The Blue Lotus" magnetic and morbid, "A Doomed Lover" a cold and empty cradle. Ten years after "Turn Loose," it seems, at the very least, remarkable. | <<If in "The Dreadful Hours" there were some elements of interest>> SOME??? O__O

I'm sorry, really, but let me tell you that (in my opinion) you didn't understand anything. This is one of their best, untouchable. "Catherine Blake," apocalyptic, "The Blue Lotus," claustrophobic, "The Prize of Beauty," and "A Doomed Lover" are the top ones. Immense. I won't go into too much detail, otherwise I'll end up writing a comment-review about it.

What did I tell you? This beats all my ridiculously stupid reviews (and my equally stupid albums) put together, damn it! :-P Anyway, it comes highly recommended. 5 for the trusted album, but either way, I'll get my hands on it.

I'm sorry to admit it, but after listening to it many (too many) times, I can say it told me little to nothing. Between 2 and 3. :(

PERFECT, and it stands the test of time - it's twenty years old and it wears them well. Certainly one of the greatest of its kind, if not the greatest (unlike its successor, "Darker Days Ahead," a bit of a disappointment..).

I quote Bartle, you're a genius. Review of the year for ten minutes.

I'm sorry, but I find them irritating, to say the least.
