Anyway, I agree with Alia (the review is well done and interesting, but it caught me a bit off guard) when she says that (without wanting to spoil too much) the ending of Up is certainly not a happy ending in every sense: it left me with a melancholy that lingered for several days, but I didn’t take it negatively at all (so much so that I drove some of my friends crazy for a week straight begging/commanding them to go see it). Okay, for a seven-year-old, it’s certainly not the best, and on top of that, it wouldn’t be easy for him to identify with a story like this, especially since the protagonist is a grumpy old widower (who, however, will meet little Russel and all the other critters, the real hooks for a younger audience)... But why does an animated film have to necessarily 1) be aimed solely at children and 2) have the classic happy ending? Perhaps I'm wrong to think this, but it seems a bit of a cliché. Up is a different kind of animated film, it has a poetry (sad, sweet, fantastic, delicate, at times "surreal") all its own, conveying a message that is not immediate (beyond the triumph of good over the villains, which this time is relegated to the background) but above all more touching than one might expect... And this, in my opinion, transcends the fact that it is an animated film or not.

Anyway, I felt the need for a new (and excellent) death/doom release. When in a few days I have my mind a bit freer from studying and various tasks, I’ll be able to devour this new gourmet at my leisure...
