Anathema We're Here Because We're Here

This album is winning me over more and more! So beautiful! Too bad it’s destined to divide the fans... I've already read somewhere (aside from dear Casamorta's comment on this page, I mean) "these are not the real Anathema," "where have the Anathema gone" and things like that, complete with mediocre ratings... Most likely because the band has offered us a completely new, fresh, spontaneous, catchy work, different from all their past albums (the dark hermeticism of "A Natural Disaster," the cosmic melancholy of "Judgement," the existential torment of "Eternity," and so on); it's an album that overflows with serenity and is anything but hermetic, contrary to what was stated in the other review. But it remains 100% Anathema, impossible to deny, the important thing is to be able to embrace change (which is often necessary and "natural," as in this case) and not to be too difficult or grumpy! In any case, great Anathema!

I had heard really good things about it everywhere, but generally I don't trust the opinions of various webzines much. However, at this point, it's better to clear the doubt and give it a good listen :) P.S. Has anyone here listened to the latest Nevermore?!

The review starts off well but then becomes too descriptive, meandering, and "elementary." The album, as mentioned in the other review, is excellent even though it's a bit too sentimental in a couple of tracks; it remains a good achievement for the band, especially after all these years of silence. Welcome back, Anathema!

A little over 4 for the record, in tenths I would give it exactly an 8 and a half, it conveys the idea better. In any case, a great job, in my opinion on the same level as the latest Alcest, which unfortunately seems to have pleased very few... :((

I wasn't convinced at all. The ideas are there, you can definitely feel them, yet almost all the tracks have something that doesn't quite work... They easily lose their way, failing to "capture" the right atmosphere... Bah. Anyway, the worst track is the one with the unpronounceable title, truly terrible. In any case, whether we like it or not, this album must be taken into account for its attempt (whether successful or not, I don’t think that’s even that crucial) to provide some innovative insights within the genre.

Well, after listening to it once and a half, it's obvious that I didn't understand a damn thing! Little by little, I'll dig into it better...
