@vortex, so I correct myself, and I say ONE of the precursors of Punk. I wanted to mention other names too, but since the review is about the Stooges... plus it would have been a long list, I would have to trace back to the rock'n'roll of Eddie Cochran. I'm also against labeling music, but sometimes it's necessary.

Rikardo, read my comment and you’ll see that I didn’t write the phrase “the greatest.” For me, he is the best American songwriter, even though he did his best work in the 70s and 80s. That said, I also like Lanegan, Wilco, and some others too.

rikardo, I know both Mark Lanegan, of whom I have two albums, and Wilco; I like them both, especially Lanegan. But as I wrote before, comparisons are often pointless. Degustibus
