Luchino Visconti Ossessione
Voto:
What a shame! I never managed to see it, even though I would have cared a lot. As you write, Visconti was inspired by Il postino suona sempre due volte by James Cain. Just like others did, Tay Garnett, Rafelson, Wilder.
John Mayall Blues From Laurel Canyon
Voto:
I saw him live twice, he’s brilliant. Blues from Laurel Canyon is a nice record, but as Music Man also writes, I prefer "The Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton," which you mentioned, but even more "The Turning Point," a pleasant and relaxing album that, in its sound, anticipates Jazz Blues Fusion, from '72.
ZZ Top Fandango!
Voto:
Eliminator is controversial because it sold a lot, and you can feel the commercial shift of the Three Bearded Ones, but I also think there are a couple of good tracks.
ZZ Top Fandango!
Voto:
I like almost everything by Deguello, especially the version of I Thank You, and also Cheap Sunglasses, but I also enjoy Tube Snake Boogie, which is on El Loco (I believe) Tush, on this album, and the legendary La Grange from Tres Hombres.
ZZ Top Fandango!
Voto:
supersoul, what do you think is the best by Gibbons and company?
ZZ Top Fandango!
Voto:
vortex, I just try to set aside my prejudices, which is why I prefer to listen to music without knowing who’s playing. Then, what I digest is indicated by my gut; whether it’s Tim Buckley or Placido Domingo, it’s all the same.
ZZ Top Fandango!
Voto:
Beautiful, as are all the ZZ Top albums up to Eliminator.
Polyrock Polyrock
Voto:
You're right, vortex, what a silly question I asked. But is Nannucci still around?
Motörhead The Chase Is Better Than The Catch
Voto:
I have it, and I like it.
Aerosmith Rocks
Voto:
I don’t own any Aerosmith albums, but I have plenty of their songs—Janie's Got a Gun, Dude, Dream On, Angel, etc. All great tracks. I'm already downloading the ones you mentioned too. Excellent review.
