In my opinion, the studio version of "No Woman, No Cry" pisses all over the live one; I mean like Niagara Falls.. It's a shame it's so neglected..

For me it's no, no, and then no... Just to stay on theme, I have always found this movie a sugary and sentimental piece of trash, irritating and cloying in its anthropomorphism of barnyard animals, with a James Cromwell (who is a giant to me...) wasted in this little fairy tale that is the very denial of the concept of Nature... Which is WONDERFULLY rational, unstopably cynical, and instinctively ruthless...

I'm not ashamed to confess it: I didn't read you because I got bored in the first paragraph, so I won't vote for you...
Having made this pointless preamble, this is the film of the trilogy that I've always liked the most... Because the landscapes expand, because it's less childish and rhetorical than the first one, because it showcases a talent in miniatures, costumes, and practical and digital effects that is hard to (re)see... I remember, though, that when it came out, everyone threw a bit of shit at it, and even back then I thought that those who were throwing shit at it were completely wrong...
Now it's time for the Amazon series; I'm really curious to see what they'll come up with...
Oh, and once you've read "Lord Of The Rings," you can easily forget all the other fantasy out there, past, present, and future...

I would give you ONE for the annoyance caused by your review (also because writing so much to describe this utter crap is a dangerously symptomatic sign of cheap cinephilia...), but I’m a decent person after all, and I don’t want to ruin your average.

A review that, to help you understand how a song sounds, compares it to 3 or 4 other songs... But maybe not...

I saw it all, and I give it an extra point because it deals with a topic that has always terrified and fascinated me. It’s well-made, well-shot, well-acted, and there are two or three scenes that are scarier than any horror you could conceive: the 90-second dance of the liquidator on the roof of unit 3 is worth watching it alone. Is it "romanticized"? Are the characters invented? Was Legasov really not like he is portrayed? Is everything simplified? OF COURSE, FUCK, IT'S FICTION. But what did you want, a documentary? What do you expect, HBO to produce series that are 100% historically accurate? Come on… It’s not easy to explain to the general public what happened at the Lenin plant, what nuclear energy means, and what beasts of concrete, metal, and radionuclides humanity is capable of conceiving and building. Anyway, it’s ridiculous to take a fiction as "propaganda"; it doesn't make logical sense since we’re talking about fiction... Sure, propaganda is also fiction, but in a much broader and subtler sense, and certainly not declared. Ah, for those who know how things were, talking about "anticommunist propaganda" is ridiculous: the Soviet reality was already degraded enough by nature, it certainly didn't need bad publicity.
