One of the films of my adolescence, memorable for its obvious limitations. However, one cannot help but admire the lavish sets, the performances of the actors, the intensity of the music, and the excesses that spring from every frame. You rightly point out that Lynch, in the final cut, kept some redundant and essentially useless sequences, with a choice that was commercially misguided as well as artistically irrelevant; go figure... I don’t entirely agree with you on the special effects; true, they are a bit outdated and typically “De Laurentiis style,” but they remain effective; at the time, the sandworms were genuinely terrifying. And among the ashes of Dune from 1974, which would later flow into the forge of Alien, we cannot forget the great Ron Cobb!

In my opinion, your review starts from the wrong premises: anyone who harbors a "fanatical hatred" for trap simply doesn't understand a damn thing, because it gives a dignity, albeit a negative one, to a way of making noise (calling it a "musical genre" is an exaggeration) that lacks any dignity. This stuff serves to make fifteen-year-olds believe they have something that rocks and with which they can show off during the break or on the benches in the park near their home. And the marketing geniuses who sell it deserve to be crowned for the cleverness with which they dupe "listeners" and critics while profiting happily. Everything else, including the 4569 lines that make up your review, is absolute nothingness, the photocopy of an 8 euro note, the clumsy parody of a failed imitation.
