For me, the greatest poet of contemporary times... Visiting San Martino del Carso with his verses in mind is an emotion that cannot even be expressed, let alone explained...

I paused at the phrase: "Nicholas Cage stratospheric."
I don’t understand it: it would be like saying "Johnny Depp stratospheric" or "Gabriel Garko stratospheric".. How can one of the worst living actors be "stratospheric"?

Nice album, compact and very smooth.. There's no depth effect that makes "Further" great, but there’s fun and well-crafted sounds that are sometimes touching.. The title track is a great piece, powerful and full of feeling..

Album bought after reading the tracklist and this review.. A great work, powerful and solid like few albums can be.. The elongated tempos, the instrumental inspiration, the strength of certain riffs, and the grand work of the keyboards make it a truly engaging listen.. Well done!

Genesis The Lamb lies down on Broadway

However, we must give to Caesar what is Caesar's.. THE whole band agreed to release a concept album, THE whole band was in favor of a double album, THE whole band was definitely in favor of breaking away from the sounds of even the previous record.. We do not want to detract from the genius and artistic presence of Peter Gabriel, but as much as he was the frontman, he was at that time a cog in a mechanism larger and more perfect than himself.. It seems that we lose sight of the talent of composers Banks and Rutherford, who in fact wrote almost the entire album while Gabriel wrote the lyrics (which in the end weren't even sufficient) and chased cinematic dreams in Hollywood.. When we talk about this album, we always talk too much about Peter Gabriel and too little about Genesis..

Do the historical references relate to something real or are they random? Because a couple of things don't add up for me...

The album is not difficult, it’s not the only true album by Genesis, it's not a testament... It's a clear artistic choice made by a band made up of musicians too great to stay in a single group for long... The poor (terrible) production is a huge step back from previous efforts, but aside from the internal contrasts, the album is overall cohesive and has a well-defined direction... The story, in my opinion, is deliberately suggestive and stuffed with somewhat random references; it’s Gabriel’s fault, who has always posed as an intellectual type who knows a lot... The real flaw of "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" was identified by Mile Rutherford himself: the first part of the album (and the show) works much better than the second...

It's an incredibly well-made film, full of visual and auditory ecstasy, where each image breathes on its own.. The shimmer of the scorching air, the monolithic masses swaying a few meters from the ground, the metallic clangs of the mechanical dragonflies.. Care and dedication.. But unfortunately, the film doesn't work for me.. It's perfectly fine to chisel every scene, intense close-ups are great, a slow rhythm is needed, and Zimmer's razor-sharp cues underline EVERYTHING (even though they've seriously overdone it; by the end, those booms were almost annoying...), but all this pomp doesn't quite do justice to a narrative material as obscure and dense as that presented by Herbert.. It's not true that the story is well-framed because the motivations of the characters, the social/mystical backdrop, predestination, and all the other heavy ingredients are barely hinted at.. Those who haven't read the book find themselves facing a tableau vivant for two and a half hours that ultimately leaves the impression of a big mess.. I saw very little Arrakis, almost zero spice, too few Harkonnens, and honestly, I still don't understand why the film lasted so long, seeing that a myriad of plot points have fallen victim to the omissions you mentioned.. For the visual care, yes, absolutely; but a story like that of Dune doesn't take off unless you explain it well, and in this regard, I think it misses the mark big time.. Some characters are so stripped down that they end up being useless (the doctor, Duncan, Jessica herself, Tufir, the planetologist...), but the actors were all good, Rebecca Ferguson stunning.. Essentially, I enjoyed a theory of scene that's out of this world, some that leave you breathless, but the final impression was of a monumental, wonderful, intensely flawed narrative approach.. It's not a bad film at all, but I'm really afraid there will be difficulties in producing a sequel, given that the audience isn't flocking in masses and given that there are already tensions between Warner and the production team.. A shame, really a shame and, as far as I'm concerned, a bitter disappointment..

I was really disappointed when I realized that the giant squids had nothing to do with it and that it was actually a Battle Royal + Takeshi's Castle 6.0. The good review adds reasons to steer clear of it…
