The review seems terrible to me, poorly written and completely empty of content. In my opinion, this is the most monumental, epic, and complete western film of all time. For me, the best of the three is the charming Eli Wallach; the battle scenes on the bridge are biblical. An essential milestone. 5 is too little, damn it.

Alessio, in your review you mention Guy Fawkes.. Do you know who he is? Do you know what the mask worn by the protagonist represents? Is it not a historical reference? Then what is it?

A big flashy production with a pre-cooked message for a blockbuster like many others, if not worse. Personally, I find the constant reference to the Gunpowder Plot irritating, one of many examples of how commercial cinema pretends to be cultured by using historical memory. In 300, at least the distortion of history is blatant and presented as functional to the epic sense; here, it isn’t.

They aired it a couple of summers ago in the late evening, but unfortunately, I only saw the first half; what I saw, however, I liked, even though I don't think Julianne Moore is as great as everyone says. There are quite a few ironic twists, but I can't quantify the full value of the film. A beautiful review, attentive and balanced. But is Dirk Diggler a fictional character then? I thought it was a biographical film.
