And don't bring classical or symphonic music into the conversation for a band like this because you just sound ridiculous... the orchestral arrangements on this record are really just there to make everything seem more pompous (but to trained ears, they can only elicit laughter), the truly skilled artists in this field are elsewhere. Furthermore, I think a band that shows off technical prowess and sacrifices emotions is, as far as I'm concerned, on par with a commercial band that sells because the singer is good-looking. Symphony X, like Dream Theater, I believe are the perfect examples of this concept of mine.

you're right cpt, it's quite a broad definition, but I believe it's wrong to use it to describe the high emotional component of a proposal: thinking this way, all the music that conveys emotions would be emo...actually, that was a movement that originated with strong hints of heavy music if I'm not mistaken (see the term -core being paired). so, I repeat, having listened to those three tracks and finding them rather similar, I would be surprised to hear the sounds you mentioned in other songs that I haven't listened to yet. ergo, I could be wrong :)

I feel exactly the same way as 47... a review completely lacking objectivity and too biased.

No one commented in due time, so I'll do it a year later. It's a very beautiful album, especially because it's highlighted by one of the best voices in pop (the more sophisticated and intelligent kind, of course). Unfortunately, the lack of value in the instrumental component, as well as the obvious references to more well-known artists, detract from the final quality of the product. Furthermore, I believe that for the future the artist should consider the idea of pursuing just one path: either the acoustic one or the electronic one. Personally, I hope he continues down the latter, because the tracks of this style are the ones I appreciated the most in "other people's stories."

great knowledge in the genre = simple but never banal reviews, compliments norvheim, this is one of the best! the swallow the sun may not be masters, everything they compose has already been written by someone else, but it is impossible to deny that everything they do is done with passion, a passion that oozes from every single, fantastic note of this album. stunning the first part of the record, heartbreaking "doomed to walk the earth," as shape of despair teach us. a welcome return! ps: in this album I believe the gothic component has also been accentuated: the ethereal keyboards are almost omnipresent.
