In reality, and this is not knowing well what they were doing to mess with them, the Stones, for example, who had more convinced blues roots, had the black blues right in their blood and never renounced it, at least in their belle époque (1964 - 1972). In fact, I find it hard to say that these excrement from 70s groups like Kansas are rock; they lack the dirty and cocky attitude that belongs to the people you’ve already mentioned. I would also include Led Zeppelin here; they were rock as well as blues. That said, it doesn’t change the fact that bands like The Stooges have made a greater contribution to rock history than Led Zeppelin, and sales figures or filled arenas have nothing to do with this kind of discussion.
