Here’s a voice out of tune; I largely agree with what you've written. This album isn't terrible, but it comes close. It's true that they hide behind CULTURE (or pseudo-culture), but the melodies, the orchestrations, the arrangements are disgusting. In short, everything that is part of the musical side, which is far more important than a thousand turns of phrase. Bianconi's voice is absolutely expressionless, and there's nothing remarkable even in her voice, the Rachele. It's true that the songs are too long, they drag on and are drenched in self-indulgence; the choruses are excessively long and unbearable. Moreover, I have never tolerated pop that dresses up for the evening; it’s music for the masses and of low quality in any case, just like the musicians, whose shortcomings are cruelly exposed in live performances. All this bitterness, which I justify wholeheartedly, is also due to the fact that yesterday I was listening to the first album by Teatro degli Orrori, and thinking about this album (and others) made me angry. Here in Italy, either we are small-town provincialists (and naively influenced by foreign trends) or we elevate ourselves to supreme defenders of rubbish, and instead of blaming the record labels, we should also think about how little it takes for us to shout miracle, that little which certainly won’t change anything.

Yes, if by "beautiful solo" we mean a technically elaborate and sought-after solo that is useless in the context of a song. I think that for a thrash metal track, a solo by the duo of King and Hanneman is the pinnacle of the art, even if taken alone it’s quite a mess, precisely because it expresses everything it should: being functional to the song within the genre. I didn’t say that I dislike the solo in rock or in metal as a whole (though recently I haven’t been that into metal, but that’s that.. XD) but generally, in thrash, it’s an element that, in my opinion, counts little or nothing, except as an "outburst" or "explosion" of the song, and it certainly doesn’t have the spiritual/phallic connotation that it has in rock music. In any case, I think Mustaine's solos and those of his rhythmic buddy are insignificant (because expressively neutral), just like the entirety of the Megadeth production. And to simplify everything with an example (in my opinion fitting), Megadeth are like mediocre rugby players (thrash) who also know a little bit about football and volleyball. Slayer, on the other hand, are formidable rugby players who do just that and nothing else, it's obvious I would choose them. Sorry for the silliness of the example, but I think we won’t reach a meeting point in our thinking. Best regards.

but in fact the other songs are hardly distinguishable from each other; it’s the album as a whole that is massive in its refusal to grant any breathing space. then frankly, I hate a nice solo in thrash metal, it wouldn’t be in-loco at all. in any case, in Slayer's riffs I hear very little of Megadeth; if Mustaine taught them, it means the students have surpassed the teacher. that's precisely the point: a Fripp in thrash metal would be useless, just like certain orchestrations, because what the genre requires is speed and aggression, metal and not rock. (understood as ideological dualism)

rhythmic and soloistic, indeed. I mentioned Fripp and Belew. Expressively, "Reign in Blood" certainly does not require solos to fulfill its intended purpose, (and I well know that I can play the broom better than they play the guitar) it’s a total wallop, which over time has almost hallucinogenic effects. a wicked and unbearable album, thrash. The genre itself, speaking of compositions, primarily demands frontal assaults, a "nuclear war" rhythm section, and an aggressive voice. Based on these criteria, Megadeth cannot answer the call.

The best pair of guitarists who have played together are Fripp and Belew.

@alexander77: even though, for instance, Metallica don’t drive me crazy (but I acknowledge their importance), I wouldn’t even mention Megadeth and Slayer in the same sentence. Reign in Blood is an amazing album, for me it's pure distilled thrash metal at 100%, while any Megadeth album has an unbridgeable deficit in at least one section. Mustaine's voice is simultaneously ugly and expressionless, the lyrics are dumb, and the solos are always and forever as predictable as long throws from Materazzi. The flaws that Megadeth have often affect the other bands you mentioned, but the difference is that the others compensate with their compositions, while Megadeth rely mostly on contemptible quirks.
