I find the character likable in its grotesque/excessive way. A top-notch marketing operation that has at least highlighted the ignorant stupidity of the masses (which includes both fans and the new inquisitors) with the sounds of delightful, Luciferian pop/rock, Reznor or not. I haven't heard the album, but frankly, Warner is really running out of steam and deserves little interest. I agree with the reviewer on the glam angle, a little less with the assorted nonsense scattered throughout the review.

I haven't heard bugo yet, while I listened to the latest from tricarico and I really didn't like it. Maybe it's just me who doesn't understand the poetry, but honestly, it seems to me that there’s a lot more discussion about it than it actually deserves. Regards.

The review is nice, but ELP are perhaps the worst prog band that comes to mind.

this david81 speaks just like the "great collective consciousness" (which is essentially that of the market) that traces its bright line over the decades to erect the universal story of rock, from the Beatles to Radiohead, passing through Queen. A very comfortable route for those wrapped up in conformity who still want to cultivate some knowledge. But what didn’t resonate yesterday and doesn’t resonate today (yet holds immeasurable value) isn’t even worth considering.

blackdog, you're absolutely right about Keaton, but as far as I know, he's not exactly adored by the Bat fans either...

Great review and a really nice film. But did you expect that this film would actually gain something in Hollywood?

Well, if nothing else, those up there who want to avoid any hassle have found in you their favorite. A closed mind is a strong mind. :-)

I'm not even sure if during 66-69 they were that reassuring, though... I agree with nosebleed, legacy and ability are beyond discussion. Lake is melodically influenced by the vocal harmonies of the Beatles; any of the purely pop episodes of Emerson, Lake & Palmer serve as proof of that. Such melodies and a certain approach to orchestrations vaguely unite Fripp's group from the primordial era with the Fab Four. "Ladies of the Road" on "Islands" for example is 100% Beatles-esque, and often the group itself would joke by twisting the structures of pop songs in an ironically critical way ( "Happy Family" is a song about the Beatles). As for the rest, it's absolutely right to say that at the level of attitude they really have little to do with it.
