Anathema Alternative 4

discreet album, well-written review but full of absurdities. What do they have to do with Pink Floyd? The Final Cut a masterpiece? Then at certain moments you refer to Momentary Lapse (didn’t seem like it to me), I don’t think that’s a good thing. @missblinky: given your listening habits, I would actually recommend you forget about these Anathema, in my opinion, you’re not missing much.

I know that the neurosis played in Senigallia; I'm really sorry I missed them! The few people I know who went said they played for just over an hour.. anyway, great review and interesting proposal.

I think the first track is losing steam with the listens; it’s well-constructed but doesn’t say much to me. Since I don’t know much about the genre (but what I’ve heard is quite appealing to me, all things considered :D), would you recommend something valid besides Don and Hella?

First! Honestly, partly because I detest elp, partly because I detest a certain kind of music, I haven't really felt all these emotions. Anyway, they're nice and friendly and very skilled musicians, but all in all, I don't despair at not having anything for them to sign...

rhetorical message: once upon a time, there was debaser, a site filled with wonderful people and a few shady characters, where comments and opinions could be exchanged about the beautiful music in the world that perhaps one didn’t know about, relying on the experience of many users who have been listening to the "most immediate art" for years and want to share this or that beautiful musical moment with others. There were quarrels, skirmishes, colorful outbursts, and fakes. Now we have individuals like katarsys, for whom one should refer to treatises on the bad manners of consumer society and cultural relativism, seeming even more rhetorical than this comment. Now the exchange is gone; everyone wants to be right and treats the site like a battlefield, among ridiculous factions and a thirst for visibility. Certain reviews feel like a middle school after-school hangout, lacking even the merit of being funny. Others (this one) are a dumping ground for nonsense and things that transcend the threshold of respect, primarily for oneself. And so debaser becomes a portal for the self-affirmation of virtual personalities. Frankly, all of this really disgusts me, (the price of expansion and greater notoriety of the site, perhaps) and I urge you to keep in mind the (more or less) human being lurking behind each nickname. end of rhetorical comment.

thanks everyone for the comments. @Open Mind: indeed, the more I listen to the album, the more I’m convinced that it’s not bad at all, but as you also say, the lineup is so lacking that it calls into question the usefulness of new albums under the name Don Caballero. Williams was essential, and now he explores fabulous new directions and seems to be having a lot of fun doing it (check out the videos on YouTube :D). As for the best album, the third one sounds much more original and bold than the others, but it's simply the one I prefer; the other two are also great albums. @emanuele: thanks for stopping by :-)

Yeah, but you'd probably agree with me :) as for Metallica, I tend to not consider them.

@Il Trucido: Damon is such a cool guy :D @Orwell: I see "don caballero" on the cover (which is nice, by the way), so I consider it a two; I don't see how Metallica fits in. Plus, you haven't even listened to the album...

@mukkiodiossa: it doesn't seem to me that Dylan's nose was solely responsible for his luck.. :D
