Dream Theater Systematic Chaos

@easycure: the album is very pleasant, the best by Dream since '99... Considering it in the mainstream metal scene, it becomes a monster record, definitely the best release of this year from the annoying Roadrunner Records (I like it, I couldn't ask for better XD).. Anyway, the reviews from American sites are all positive, partly because, aside from some questionable singles and a completely wrong promotional campaign (now the Dream present their albums as if they were a new type of laundry softener, not as a product of creativity..) everything flows smoothly. So you can start attacking me ;-)

Wow, great review. One of the few albums I will buy original this year, I hope it lives up to expectations (vapor trails didn't like it at all..).

No one who has heard the album... Far be it from me to distract you from shoveling shit, but we're facing a good last hurrah from the Dream Theater, a pleasant album better than Fear or A Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree, in my opinion. In short, even though they are the most hated band on Debaser, they deserve a listen, without dwelling too much on the Metallica cover or the similar Muse abomination. The album has some good moments, and the fact that the reviewer, in a rush to beat everyone to the punch, copied a review from another site (which was also poorly and vaguely written..) to get there first seems like an attempt to preempt the flood of useless and superficial reviews that will come after the album's release. The Dream Theater know what they're doing; the album winks at the sad/glossy sounds of the recent Roadrunner releases but never comes off as twisted like the latest Porcupine Tree. Ultimately, today the Theater is a mainstream metal band that hasn't given up its strong personality, borrowed (also) from a deliberate quotation of other works, all reinterpreted in a pleasant and never (too) trivial manner. Recommended.

but maybe it’s just a joke, right?

sad sad, I’ve always liked them, it’s now clear that the only notable composer was Moore... However, I still hope that the album can be at least decent, even though I suspect it might just be tacky commercial rock and predictable... really disappointed.
