Sony God Of War 3

gallagher87: a failure that, besides gow 3, makes Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, HEAVY RAIN, Demon's Souls, MAG, and, sooner or later, Gran Turismo 5 run. Gears can pass, and even Mass Effect if you want, but I believe Halo 3 is by far the most overrated game of this generation. The graphics are unwatchable; I firmly believe it is based on the exact same engine as Halo 2. Halo Reach will probably fix things up nicely.

recently revisited, ridiculous characters and an embarrassing script. not to mention the scenes with robots, which are simply unbearable. a film that has aged terribly.

It seems that in the end we will see it this year here in Italy, at least according to what I've been able to read around. A truly pitch-black film, even the ending, if you look closely, doesn't leave much room for light. I haven't (yet) read the book, but the missing thumb of the guy at the end leaves one perplexed about the actual final salvation. I won't go further to avoid any more spoilers. In my opinion, it deserves to be seen; it would really be a shame if it didn't make it to theaters.
Syd Barrett The Madcap Laughs

The soloists of Barrett are beautiful and absolutely unique. To say that the Floyd changed for the better after Gilmour seems frankly like nonsense; if it were true, it certainly wouldn’t be attributable to Gilmour's guitar playing, which was more traditionalist than traditional. The greatness of Pink Floyd also lay in their breaks, in the empty-full spaces that Barrett's skeletal guitar orchestrated in pieces that became the very essence of psychedelia, without ever becoming "academic". (And there has been a significant following, like the early works of Mercury Rev, certainly not with Porcupine Tree.) Gilmour, on the other hand, literally "tied" the sounds of the other three, (not coincidentally placing endless bends) dedicating himself to a kind of blues stretched to the limits of believability. Just listening to Gilmour's solo pieces on Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother should be enough; they have nothing in common with a certain rock avant-garde that the rest of the group was pursuing, nor with psychedelia. Without Barrett, I’ve always seen them out of focus, so much so that to solve their "problems," they then took refuge in the complete and well-known sound of albums like Dark Side and WYWH.

I agree with everything from the first to the last line. The guy in question is a provocateur, somewhat like the clickbait groups on Facebook that exist solely to showcase people's hypocrisy and base ignorance. It shouldn't be the gags that scandalize us, but the sad situations they highlight (like those auditions with the parents of the kids, willing to do anything just to get their children in some ad). The film itself, on the other hand, is pretty bad; frankly, I consider it unrateable (in the sense that I wouldn't really know what score to give).

Honestly, I find the review a bit convoluted, almost as if, at the end of the day, we’re not really talking about a metal band. I admit they've become quite tiresome for me, but given the enthusiastic tone of the writing, I’ll probably end up listening to at least the album. (mmh how many tracks from ObZen, though!)
Martin Scorsese Shutter Island

I fundamentally agree with s4doll. I would also add the obvious similarities to Shining, and from a purely visual standpoint, I didn't like many scenes at all (the dreams, which had many shouting miracles, I found a bit too "baroque," with some effects not worthy of Scorsese). DiCaprio was brilliant, though, and the soundtrack was beautiful.

For me it's very nice, so much that I can't explain the director's crash on "push," which is terrible. This instead is very entertaining. Nice review.
