@s4doll: come on, even if you want to compare console vs PC, you know better than me that Crysis is certainly not the norm.. :)

When I say "this generation," I'm always and in every case talking about consoles. My PC would struggle to run Tetris. And anyway, it's hard to deny that KZ2 (which I don't even love, by the way) has few rivals on consoles in terms of visual impact. From the way you talk about it, it seems like we're discussing Halo 3 :) To get slightly into the specifics, I would say that the lack of vegetation is for design reasons (it would be like talking about water rendering in Red Faction..), the dark tones suit the industrial setting well, and I believe the lighting is dynamic.

@s4doll: I think it’s also a porting issue, because for example those at Crytek (whose CryEngine is being adapted simultaneously for both consoles) claim that the most performant version of Crysis 2 would currently be the PS3 one.. and Killzone 2, despite its 30fps, is easily the most visually stunning FPS of this generation.

anyway, my brother plays it on 360, for me even doom3 was too anxiety-inducing :)

I've never understood this thing about washed-out textures; for example, Modern Warfare 2 on PS3 looks like they've bleach-bonned it.. anyway, for a Resident Evil that isn't what it used to be, there's a Dead Space ready to take its rightful place :)

Honestly, I never understood the reason behind the RE embargo on GameCube, which prevented a large chunk of players from experiencing titles (I've been told) that are actually good. Not to mention that it didn’t seem to be exactly "the tea cup" of the Nintendo audience. In any case, I recently played the 5, which is really terrible, (even though I have no issue playing stuff like Alpha Protocol) and it's increasingly evident how the Japanese are definitely losing their touch.

-"In conclusion, it takes very little, dear Dawkins, to claim not to believe in a personal God, as Einstein did in his time, unleashing the wrath of conservatives, denigrating the Judeo-Christian idea of the bearded man with the tablets in hand sitting on a cloud judging men; all one has to do is watch a George Carlin show to grasp all the contradictions and lies contained in every kind of mass religion. But stating the non-existence of something based precisely on the speculations that man has made about it is a whole different matter, and this, first and foremost, is absolutely unscientific."- I completely agree. Religion, on a practical level, is often very far from any kind of metaphysical discourse. These are separate matters, and talking about metaphysics starting from the various denominations generally demonstrates a certain poverty of arguments.

I saw it a while ago in English on my crummy PC, I absolutely have to see it again at the cinema. (which is definitely a different experience) I haven't read the book (yet), but the ending doesn't seem off to me: the guy at the end, just like the thief, is missing his thumbs(!)
