Iron Maiden A Matter Of Life And Death

You're right, the crusades are pointless, especially when one falls into that subtle meanness that many comments on the Iron have. In short, we joke and express our opinions; at most, one makes a little quip on the tenth review of an album. By the thirteenth, made by a clueless noob, one appears totally out of place (and a bit grumpy) and should refrain from commenting or even insulting the aforementioned poor noob, the sacrificial lamb of the situation. As for the informational value of the site, it's obvious that comments serve to balance the judgment, but the many reviews of this album, or any of the DTs (which are, however, hit much harder in reviews, and rightly so), are just the tip of the iceberg of the issue: a thousand reviews of a non-essential album make the pages of the artist in question less smooth and may completely mislead the real value of the work. Because it must also be said that often when looking for a review on Google, Debaser appears among the first results. One starts with a thousand 5/5 ratings and ends up saying that "A Matter of Life and Death" was one of the highlights of the Maiden. (I've exaggerated a bit, but at least I'm blending in with the even more exaggerated de-page) Best regards to you, anyway.

@cptgaio: my "complaint" was about the number of reviews for the latest album in particular, which had very similar, if not identical, content. Indeed, according to the reviews in the database, that album would practically have an average of 5/5, which, true or not, somewhat diminishes (if everyone did the same) Debaser's value as a site for music information.

I respond to cptgaio, even though he probably didn’t want any answers. The bitterness towards a review like this is partially justified by the number of reviews about Maiden published lately, which, by the way (excluding yours from some time ago), have almost nothing to say/add. Regarding the album in question, whether it’s horrific or beautiful, it must be said that it has been reviewed about ten times, almost always receiving top marks, so it seems reasonable that things could (but maybe not, huh) be different... best regards.

I don't mind the reviews on the IM homepage, but this album really sucks, and the review looks like the results of a fantasy football league...

hide away.. That song is beautiful, one of their peaks. Thanks to everyone for the comments/greetings.. @Bartleboom: they've always seemed very captivating to me, even though they're certainly not a flashy and sweaty band.. The fact that Maynard is an asshole and acts all high and mighty is another story, but it still falls within the composed and "thoughtful" attitude of certain aspects of their music. And in some ways, the atmosphere in such a cold seriousness definitely gains something, in my opinion..
