The Acqua Fragile have never convinced me.....and then Lanzetti's voice.....sometimes I just can't stand it!! In general, I don't really like him as a vocalist.

Oops... the ratings for an album that, by the way, I didn't really like.

Well, for GrantNicholas, there are no masterpieces after '77 for DaveJonGilmour, so... if you want to review something he considers a masterpiece, you can only go backwards!! :-)
Anyway, in my opinion, the Verve are a decent band that made honest music with a few gems like "Bittersweet Symphony" and "Lucky Man," to name a couple of examples.

Nice album, but the masterpieces by Camel are others (Mirage, The Snow Goose....)

Starting from the premise that the early works of Genesis are quite different from the later ones, I don't understand this harsh invective either. For goodness' sake, it's well-written criticism, but I believe that taking a backward glance can also be justified, and I can tell you that it's even enjoyable to listen to. And believe me, I have explored the discography of Genesis thoroughly. However, I simply try to look at things by listening without prejudices. (Unless they are established trash like boy bands...) It's true that CD 3 and CD 1 can't be compared, but it's nice to make this backward journey and it can help bring the early Genesis closer to those who only associate them with Collins, or who don't know them at all. P.S. The song is "Dancing With The MoonLIT Knight," not MoonLIGHT... sorry for the pedantry, but I HATE this mistake that everyone, literally everyone makes!!!

Perfect description of an album where more could have been done. The first side is really good, but they noticeably falter on the second. Although I would save "It's Gonna Get Better," which I've always enjoyed as a song. They've done much worse, even on this album ("Just a Job To Do" or "Invisible Touch," to name one from this album and one from the one to come!!)
P.S. @Happypippo: having not read the book, how is the Gabriel period dismissed by the protagonist of "American Psycho"??

Beautiful review for an album I love. I think it's one of the best examples of Italian prog.
