Dimmu Borgir In Sorte Diaboli

As for the album, it's really sad; not like the previous one, of course, but it's worse than Puritanica, which at least had catchier moments to engage the listener; the bassist has been annoying with his vocal runs: he should just go back to that damn Borknagar! Mediocre album when considered as symphonic death; chilling as black metal.

list of errors as big as a house: it’s not a black metal album (understanding this is the key difference between grasping or not the concept of black metal); in reality, it’s much less symphonic than other Borgir albums; it’s clearly a death-thrash album with a "dark" twist: but there is simply no black metal, musically, stylistically, and in terms of attitude; your rating (5) is inconsistent with what you write, nor with the score out of ten that you give during the review; I haven’t heard a single note from this album that hasn’t already been played by a thousand other death bands.

Already from the cover, it's clear that that man is an idiot...

Yes, I agree; they’ve never produced masterpieces, but "Through chasm..." is a very beautiful and personal album; then they became definitely too personal, to the point of bordering on the ridiculous, both musically and humanly; Nattefrost represents the right epigone of Euronymous, a headless metalhead living off the talent of others and gossip. I've never understood how someone who titles an album "defending the throne of evil" can then allow themselves to mock black satanic bands…

Hello Corax; in my opinion, Satyricon are no longer a valid group; their artistic vein, which was very prolific in the past (three albums is no small feat), has dimmed when they tried to change their sound. Even Rebel Extravaganza lowered the quality, albeit slightly, and then there was a steep decline. The problem is that certain sounds suit other bands much better, who make Satyricon pale in comparison: this modern approach to black metal, blending it with thrash, offering simple yet “catchy” riffs, comes much more naturally to bands like Khold, Disiplin, in Italy Hiems, etc. Like Darkthrone and Mayhem, Satyricon have faced a noticeable drop in inspiration, which they tried to compensate for with new sounds that aren't always within their reach. I find that nowadays there are at least 100 bands that are much more interesting to focus on (Nortt, Xasthur, Paysage d’Hiver, Darkspace, Leviathan, Velvet Cacoon, etc.). Goodbye and thanks.

I really liked this one, it seems to me that you put more soul into those black tracks than into the brutal; I haven't listened to this album, and given the ease with which the band has changed style, I wouldn't really know what to expect exactly (despite the excellent description); I just know that "memoria vetusta" is clearly one of the 10 albums to have in black metal, so I imagine this one can't be mediocre at all either.
