ahhh! guilty as charged. I give the review a 1 (thank goodness it can't go any lower). For kurz: Yes, it's true, I've kind of disappeared from the de-b scene and you hardly see me in bz either...

If it's a hoax, you're really making a fool of yourself... anyway, I consider "substance" a good step towards the JD. If you love them, I recommend their latest live at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. The recording is so-so, but the guys were "in the zone." The album can be found under the title "Gruftgesänge."
I also recommend "Warszaw" (maybe the spelling isn't exact), the album that was recorded but never officially released. Vinyl cover in copper/gold color.
These are the "historical" references. The search is up to you ;-)

a must-have record. Unfortunately, I've lost track of it. It was one of the most played records on Radio Tandem back in the day (early 90s). I miss it like crazy. I remember a comment from Gianpietro Giachery (if you're out there, make some noise) who was the press officer for Contempo at the time: "the only band that, two minutes before the end of an incredibly intense concert, was willing to give interviews." Those were the good old days when we spent hours in our favorite record store listening to everything...

Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros Streetcore

Beautiful review. Touching. Like almost everything I've been reading lately about Strummer. In "In viaggio con Manu Chao" (Marco Mathieu, Feltrinelli 2003), there's an entire chapter dedicated to Joe, about his commitment in the last years managing the areas dedicated to less-known artists at large British open-air events... I think many miss him.
