Michael Jackson Thriller 25 Anniversary

Madcat, I said that the '90s were terrible, except for a few sporadic cases... How many artists were there in the '90s? A ton? Yes! Well... "Soundgarden, Blur, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Alice in Chains, Jeff Buckley" these are sporadic cases. Don't forget Alanis Morissette! And a few others... For the rest, total garbage! The pop rock of the '80s is still the source for 90% of today's global pop... there are no more ideas! We live in a world of remakes, sequels (cinematically speaking), and musical revivals of the '70s and '80s... The '90s... what the hell did the '90s do! Gigi D'Agostino?

Sales and album quality have nothing to do with each other, especially when it comes to Britney Spears or the buffoonish pop singers of today. Jackson is perhaps the only musical case where astronomical sales perfectly coincide with quality! Madcat, in my humble opinion, you don’t know the difference between art and pasta: after Nirvana, THANKFULLY, a completely different music dominated? Michael like Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet? Boy… I feel sorry for the whole "nevermind" generation that doesn’t understand a thing about the 80s and thinks they are living a VERY ALTERNATIVE life! The 90s… aside from a few sporadic cases, musically were AWFUL!!!!!!!! But come on! Just get lost, you and Nirvana. Smak… I love you!

The Nirvana sold three-quarters less than Dangerous! What the hell is this nonsense that they beat Michael? What beat? They kicked Dangerous off the charts because their damn grunge sounded like something new for fake alternates. But valavalavalavala! Dangerous 30 million copies! Flush Nevermind down the toilet, thanks! P.S.: sorry for VAN ALLEN, I mixed him up with one of my foreign uncles!

@c'è: sales alone don't prove a damn thing. But if sales come with quality... then it means that during that time, people weren't the same as Britney Spears, maybe they understood something about music. Record sales plus top quality = Thriller!
@rg88metal: Rock can be mixed with everything! You just need to know how to do it! Open your mindeee! Yes, like this... mmmmmm open the chakras!

Today, the special edition for the 25th anniversary is being released worldwide! A remastered luxury packaging with unreleased tracks, remixes, an internal DVD, and a mega 50-page booklet! You could have waited to review this while you were at it. Anyway, I realized that in reviews about Jackson, it's now pointless to write the usual line "we must distinguish the man from the artist" because no one does it anyway! Since tabloid newspapers are read by everyone, but the artist is hardly known anymore! These kids today! PRRRR
Thriller is the album of the century. The sales prove it, the sound quality proves it, and the VARIETY of sounds proves it. Jackson is artistically an alien! However, I still vastly prefer Dangerous!

Daft85, done! I have the complete discography of Kraftwerk and Daft Punk, plus other less commercial names and various electronic groups. I remain convinced, having listened to many, that the Brothers are the best. But… everyone has their own tastes. Of course, one must acknowledge that Kraftwerk have been among the absolute masters. P.S.= if for you this is music that doesn't knock you off your feet, either you're joking with me or you have a stereo system from World War I.

Ghemison: I believe that aside from a few small groups here and there, I own almost everything in the electronic landscape. Just go back and read my various reviews like Daft Punk, Moby, Lemon Jelly, Air,.. plus others that I still need to write. Everyone has their own genre. In Dance electronic, the Chemical Brothers are unbeatable! The sound quality and the type of sonic mix they propose is the most powerful and high-quality in circulation. At least in my opinion... and just because you don’t think like me doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m talking about! This happens in elementary school :-) by the way.... I apologize for the subjunctives but.. I’ve heard too many monologues by Celentano! Sorry!

"Gian Luigi Rondi - Il Tempo.
Adriano Celentano, the star of song, is today a film author. Perhaps I am the first to be surprised, but it is so. He is a ā€œseriousā€ author, to be welcomed with satisfaction, without too many reservations; Yuppi Du crowns him, consecrates him. It is not a perfect film, mind you, but it is a rich, composite, eclectic film, with a wonderfully happy sense of spectacle, both musical and theatrical; and with many cinematic, linguistic, and technical insights. Overflowing with references and quotations, if you will, but also personal, especially to the extent that the memory of other authors and genres marries the unified conception of a ā€œrepresentationā€ that, despite the variety of inspirations, becomes a spectacle in itself."
It seems I am not the only crazy one. Valeriorivoli... you beat me in SEGHE!

Dear Poletti, it’s true that my reviews are a bit too enthusiastic, you know… I get carried away. But I don’t consider Celentano the greatest actor-director-musician of the century. Celentano is everything and nothing. He works as an actor because he is himself, he works as a director because he is himself, he does things his own way, he works as a dancer because he’s not a professional dancer, but he dances in his own way. Celentano is himself. And it’s difficult to succeed without having gone to film school simply by being yourself (Your beloved Welles hadn’t gone to film schools… but it’s just an example, not a comparison. Since you mention him so often). So Celentano may not be a schoolboy who came out of the Actor’s Studio, but… in terms of ARTISTIC, he has practically everything! How he moves, how he sings, how he behaves, how he speaks, how can you say he’s not an artist? Do you think artists are only Picasso and Pirandello? An artist is not just what you can do, but also who you are! And how you are! Celentano is creative, brilliant, Yuppi Du doesn’t have a single sequence that isn’t artistic. You can be against the character, but you can’t say he isn’t an artist. If you say so, then I’m convinced you’re crazier than I am.
