I won't give a rating to the album yet; I want to listen to it thoroughly first. Well done, the review is written with care and feeling (also in tune with the genre of Emilie); I really liked it.

Among the degenerates, you included dream pop (???). Quite a bold choice, I'd say...

The point is that when making a judgment, one must first decide on the parameters. So in the case of two musicians from the same era, playing the same genre, the operation makes more sense. Decreeing who is the best in absolute terms involves forced comparisons that, as you rightly object, make the judgment debatable. Indeed, in this case, the absolute comparison based on skin color makes it rather foolish, but if I have to give a NAME, just off the top of my head, I’d say Brecker. Without taking anything away from Getz, mind you (I have never said, nor do I believe that Getz lacks monstrous technique; we are talking about the best). Konitz could be another candidate (I would say no to Marsh), but he is an alto saxophonist so it’s better to leave him out... on the other hand, continuing to make comparisons would be an intellectual violence, don’t you think?? :-) Best regards.
