Well, I don't have this, and I expected everything except for what I've read above... Tribal rhythms and reggae influences? For a (former) dark wave addict and a fan of the classics like Bauhaus, could this be a good buy or is it a gamble? I mean, among the ones I have, I love "Burning from the Inside" a lot and I really like "In the Flat Field," even though at times I find it <excessive>. Also, I have Murphy's solo works and the only album released by DALIS CAR (with the bassist from Japan, if I'm not mistaken): could I like this? What do you think? From what I read above, this work seems to be a mix of things without an apparent common thread, in which everything is blended, or did I not understand correctly? Help!

JOE, I think this post was for the review of the same CD, but written by Pluto, right? Hi ;)

Sorry, I meant to say "I don't see the negative aspect you're highlighting" and not that you exalt... sorry.

Hi Sylvian, I read your exchanges with Antonio (who I greet and apologize to for not replying sooner, but for me here it's always a whirlwind) and while I partly agree with your analysis, I don't see the negative aspect that you emphasize: in fact, this is neither a chart-topping album nor one for stratospheric sales; rather, it’s almost an elite record because if it weren't for word of mouth, it would have completely gone unnoticed, unknown. It's an album for those moments when one really wants to listen to something just LIKE THIS - so deep that it challenges you with what it evokes and stirs, which is why it’s not always something one craves (as Antonio has said in a comprehensive way). And the reason I love it is exactly this. And if what Hollis wanted to convey to us with his work is precisely this uncomfortable, sometimes necessary, lovable malaise of living, well, then it’s an absolute masterpiece... I don't know, I "feel" it this way. Music is emotion above all, and there’s really a lot of it here... I hope I’ve explained myself sufficiently. Bye.

Hi Hal, it's nice to see each other now and then... This Polygram release was really remarkable, primarily because the three CDs came out at a time when finding our material was almost impossible; additionally, the collected material is truly representative and very good. In short, three rich and well-made compilations. The "Revisired" is interesting but nothing more, it doesn't add anything; much better is the '90 Jewish Culture collection with contributions from the various groups to the absolutely innovative and different arrangements. Harvey's work is something else entirely, as it tries to "Englishify" songs that had incredible strength in their original language without distorting their content and meaning too much... I actually like them a lot. The "revisited" are just a commercial maneuver and nothing more. But I won't be fooled again... A kiss.

...but I think I like Misery I.A.B. a little bit more...

Guys, I have this and Misery... I like them. Do you think there's anything else from their production that I absolutely need to have??
Voto:
I bought it, sight unseen... I'm digesting it but I think I like it...
