So, our conversation starts from these points provided by Sylvian that I quote: "Unfortunately, it’s an overly intimate album that leaves little room for music. Not bad, but it seems very personal to me and really gives nothing to the audience..... this work digs even deeper in that direction..... it closes even more in on itself and the album that comes out is truly claustrophobic. I repeat that it’s not bad, but it’s more or less a cult album. I mean, for fans or thereabouts"…… which, in my opinion, opens up a discussion, and what followed, about the flow of emotions and sensitivities and blah blah blah, is another matter. Sylvian, you are the one who said that this album is not musical enough and honestly, I don’t understand in what sense, really: on the contrary, I find it has some significant melodies (I studied music and play) and that while this music is whispered, it still retains quite a strong presence. And anyway, I insist, we’re saying the same things but I don’t know why we don’t understand each other… For Mariaelena: I join the comment above that asked if you’ve ever listened to the CD: do you know what we are talking about, aside from passionately supporting Sylvian, who, by the way, doesn’t need it? Honestly, I find it a bit hard to read you… Màh.

Hello Sylvian, there is an old work by Ben Watt from around 1985 titled NORTHMARINE DRIVE, stunning; very acoustic, with extensive use of fingerpicked guitar and an incredibly delicate voice. Beautiful, just beautiful. However, I don’t know if the CD is easily available. I have the vinyl...

Well, let's talk about it: explain your thoughts to me...

The beauty of it is that we've all been saying the same thing for days, it's just that everyone wants to say it in their own way... It's just that judging a work mainly based on one's emotions is not only unhealthy in the context of "music criticism" but is actually wrong! What remains is that this album evokes strong emotions, that's for sure, and for this reason, it can be both praised and buried... they are points of view in my opinion, it's not just a matter of sensitivity, Mariaelena... If that were the case, the reviewed albums here would almost all be masterpieces...

I had missed this one among the myriad of other reviews... what a pity because it is very well written and the album in question is truly splendid. Well done, Andrea. And it's also a shame about the limited number of comments...

I have the other albums with Berro Garcia, how is this one? Is it similar or does it differ?

...I don't (yet) have the CD in question, but they drive me crazy, so I think I'll sort that out soon and then I'll let you know... More than anything, I want to rate the review, which is BEAUTIFUL, cats included...

Wow Joe, what an analysis! Yes, I completely agree, I also didn’t digest The Beekeeper and I don’t think I want to engage further. The previous one, which I somewhat snubbed upon release - I actually like a lot, especially certain tracks, they seem absolutely on par with previous works even if they don’t match them. Yes, it may be that our Lady in Red has found peace at the expense of creativity; good for her…

No one has said anything about LITTLE EARTHQUAKE yet.. I have everything by Tori, including unreleased tracks for a total of 6 hours of listening just for having heard "Silent All These Years" on the radio once, so.....
