Porcupine Tree Fear Of A Blank Planet

Great review but absolutely not objective, contrary to what some say; just reread it and pay attention to each sentence. Anyway, it's better this way; if all reviews were objective, there would be no reason to discuss, just "I agree with you" and "I don't agree." I also liked that you mentioned trance music, a component that, in my opinion, is still present in PT's music and will never be set aside. Another positive note for not talking about Lazarus but, in general, about Deadwing :D @misterNO: no, you didn't get it at all :) it's a studio LP.

If you didn't notice, I'm a fan of PT too... do you like it, that's it? The same goes for me! That's why I don't whine (?) or annoy everyone every time someone criticizes something about Wilson (but I just said a couple of lines ago that Voyage 34 is cheesy!!!), contrary to what you say. As for "go fuck yourself," I won't take the bait; maybe you don't have any more arguments or you're just tired of discussing, but I wasn't tired, especially since for once we're talking about something interesting on this site, which is now dominated by the cinema section run by ridiculous characters like Poletti, where everyone seems even more foolish than before. Well, all I can do is invite you to stay calm, since there hasn't been a personal attack from me (unless you have a chip on your shoulder...), the many wanks you mention might be causing you some discomfort.

Ah, but who are the neomelodic metalheads? Uahahah Neapolitan singers with leather jackets and long hair?

Absolutely agree with memento... I'm a bit perplexed, however, when any change made by a band is demonized as usual, regardless of the purpose behind it. Just as there are fanatics with blinkers, there are equally ridiculous purist fanatics, if not more so! I'm convinced that if PT returned to playing exclusively psychedelia, the criticisms would still abound... "oh but they're not what they used to be" "that's not real psychedelia" "it's music that's too modern even if it looks to the past" "it's more easy listening" and all that bullshit.

Nice introduction, which could have been trivial, but you expressed your thoughts in a way I liked... however, objectively, you said a bit too little about the album ;) I haven't listened to this one, but I have to "with teeth", and aside from a couple of tracks, I set it aside immediately. Too much electronics bothers me.

Well, it’s certainly not essential, and not very nice either at least in my opinion, but it’s an original mix of psychedelia and electronics, though if it had a bit less of the latter... (I’m speaking in the singular because I think it was composed and played exclusively by Wilson, and indeed there isn’t, just to give an example, a drummer in the flesh). Anyway, my opinion doesn’t count for much, since I’m not exactly a fan of electronics... let’s say not at all, alright! To someone else, this album might seem pretty cool.

Well, I don't know if you've ever listened to Voyage 34, but there's maybe a bit more electronics in there... and indeed, at times it's a little cheesy :D

I didn't mean an insult to me, you know I don't care... I meant, instead, an insult to their music, considering that PT are not the same as they were 10 years ago, and probably they never were (in the sense that they were caught up in the frantic search for their own sound, which they hadn't previously managed to find). In my opinion, starting from Stupid Dream, they became the TRUE Porcupine Tree, they found themselves, they reached their compositional goals... I mean, I look at albums like Signify as brilliantly played works, rich in formal perfection, but objectively without anything shocking or surprising. It’s a great album, but where are the variables that capture the listener's attention? As for Stupid Dream: and Smart Kid? and Slave Called Shiver? and even Narcotic? I don't know, I really like Stupid Dream a lot.
