Katatonia Discouraged Ones

What a coincidence! They were just talking about Katatonia in the Paradise Lost review. Great band, great album... it was the first album of theirs that I listened to, a long time ago, and I was captivated by it.

in what sense taliban? explain it to me :D anyway, I didn't say I don't TOLERATE gothic, I just said I don't really like it that much (and there's a big difference, you know), just as I didn’t say I hate it ONLY because of the female voice (which, I admit frankly, I remembered being a bit more present than 3 miserable inserts... but you definitely know that album much better than I do!), even though that aspect alone makes it not love at first listen... just to give an example, I don't particularly like Holmes' vocal lines either, whom I find much more expressive in albums like Draconian Times, although some consider him derivative [Hetfield (!)]. I may have explained myself poorly... Oh, I want to make it clear that I do like both the new and old Anathema, as well as both the new and old Katatonia; when class is there, it remains unchanged!

Well, I might be the only one on the face of the earth, but if someone were to ask me "name 3 essential doom bands" besides Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, I certainly wouldn't say Anathema. Let’s be clear, I also consider "the silent enigma" one of the most important doom metal albums, but come on! They’ve only made 2 doom studio albums out of 7... definitely WAY too few to call Anathema a doom band. To the guy from my first sentence, I would continue to respond by saying "...and listen to the silent enigma by Anathema," but I would never dream of saying that Anathema is doom. The same goes for Katatonia! They too have only done TWO, and I mean TWO doom albums out of 7, and people stubbornly insist that they’re a doom band that has changed their sound. No way! They’re a gothic rock band, alternative or whatever you want to call it, that had a brief (initial) doom phase, absolutely NOT the other way around. The same argument applies to Anathema, as already mentioned. As for Candlemass, I would also place them among the bands leaning towards the epic, which is why I find them pretty awful, especially due to the singer's style (classic epic voice - annoying, in my opinion). Paradise Lost? My favorite remains Draconian Times, I don’t really like "gothic," mostly because of the female vocal inserts.

beautiful album, too bad about that useless hodgepodge (IN MY OPINION) of "E' festa". Surely the one with the most laid-back and less baroque atmospheres among the albums I own.

I mean, one gets so caught up in reading wondering "what the heck did this person write?" "do these sentences even make sense?" that in the end, just a few words are enough to dismantle everything. Nice!

Look, I neither like nor find entertaining your humor in virtually everything you write, but this time! I was just about to slap you with a 1 (especially for the first sentence :D) then the last lines... One can agree or disagree with the underlying concept expressed, personally I wouldn't know (I only have the first 3 Cohen albums), but this review is, in my opinion, a little gem.

1) I’m calm, very calm, 2) I never said that thrash is the basis blablabla, 3) the emojis are important, 4) I wouldn’t be surprised if I had said it seriously, since it’s kind of the attitude of the usual little stupid kids, 5) with point 4 I didn’t mean to say that you’re stupid, 6) maybe you are a little, but who among us isn’t a bit?

Then you Deneil, should be quiet, you only own one Megadeth album, a mathematical-logical consequence of thrash you don't understand and you can't understand a damn thing!

But what is this, a competition to elect the prom queen? Come on, you’ve probably listened to no more than 10 thrash records in your whole life (and all by Metallica or Slayer) and you dare to have the audacity to call it "the masterpiece of thrash."

Well, I wouldn't know. I stopped at the Megadeth of Youthanasia! The follow-up doesn't interest me, since I think they gave everything that could have attracted me with the first 6 albums. The review isn't bad, too bad about the part where you describe the songs, which kinda bored me!
