Not contextualizing the Guitar Shop during that period of his career means two things: not knowing anything or knowing little about Jeff, not understanding the album. Choose which one you prefer, even though both are true. The mention of Malmsteen and Vai is simply proof of bad taste; after all, someone who claims that Petrucci is better than Lukather knows nothing about the guitar. Nothing.
