I repeat that for me saying that metal is a riff or an obsessive drummer means not knowing what you are talking about.

It's offensive to see people claiming they listen to Miles Davis and then reviewing "A Kind Of Magic" by Queen and the "Greatest Hits" by Guns N' Roses. Could you share your cultural insights with a review of those artists instead? No offense intended.

Now I almost understand, but there's just one thing that's not clear to me: why isn't the first Black Sabbath album considered metal? After all, Ward is still behind the drums, the riffs are definitely there, the lyrics too, and the cover is very dark. What’s the difference? How is it that in this very short span of time, Black Sabbath invented metal?

So, Paranoid should be considered metal thanks to Billy Ward's performance on drums. Yet, Rat Salad in its structure doesn’t seem to deviate much from "Moby Dick" by Led Zeppelin, and "Toad" by Cream. Riff - drum solo - riff. Moreover, the riff of Paranoid comes directly from "Dazed and Confused" by Led Zeppelin themselves.
