The history of Cuba is no different from all other dictatorships. I don't care about the color, I don't care about the badge of recognition, I don't care about the open hand or the clenched fist, right or left – it’s all nonsense. Look here in Italy at how they’ve fooled the people with this farce. It amazes me even more that people like Guevara are elevated as symbols of anti-capitalism when T-shirts, watches, and all kinds of gadgets with his face are sold – is he perhaps the most capitalist icon I can remember?

Meanwhile, you are in Italy and can express your opinion, even dissent and contempt as you are doing, without running any risk. It's up to you.

In my opinion, continuing to say that Cuba's dictatorship under Fidel has a tiny part of the blame, denying that there is no freedom of the press (uncomfortable journalists are continuously expelled, just look at the Italian ones for example), denying that there have been no regular elections in Cuba for 50 years (there are elections without parties: you either choose this or you choose that). Then, it's agreed that Bush is disgusting and everything he is doing is a disgrace, but Bush cannot be re-elected; Fidel has been there for 50 years.

I bring you just one experience, the one I've seen; I've never been to the States, even though to be honest, I would love to go there. I’ve been to Cuba and I heard discussions from Cubans here in Italy that were completely different from what was heard there. But, of course, I don’t want to question what you’re saying; far from it. However, denying these things, in my opinion, is counterproductive. Still, I repeat, I don't want to disrespect anyone, especially you, so I'll stop with these discussions. But I’m talking about things I’ve seen and heard with my own eyes. I’ve never been to Miami, nor have I ever met someone who has cancer and doesn’t have 50,000 dollars in the bank. I’m sharing experiences I’ve heard with my own ears and seen with my own eyes.

But you will be a friend of Bush. But just one, because someone says that in a communist country one doesn't feel good, must they be American? This is just populism.

I assure you it was a crime, meaning there was an actual law, now I don't know how it works for concerts and so on, but there was a law.

And anyway, from what I understand, because I didn't live there, now it's impossible, as globalization makes something like this unfeasible, but in the 60s and 70s it was considered a real crime. Something like putting on the vinyl of Led Zeppelin IV was illegal in some countries. It was even banned in Iran; listen to "Rock The Casbah" by The Clash, it talks exactly about this.
